Hey!!!
We have always stayed on site, but because of money issues,we are going to stay off property at the Sheraton Safari. We will use our points and only pay for one night and everyone on these boards seem to feel that this is a nice hotel. My main question is,are there restaurants within walking distance? We don't want to rent a car if we don't have to and will be doing a lot of eating outside of the parks.
Anyone know this area?
Thanks for any and all help.:goodvibes

We stayed close to the hotel. There is a Pizza Hut and an Olive Garden right across the street on Palm Parkway, also there is a Steak N Shake. An IHOP and so many more I can't remember them all. This is a very good location. There also is a nice shop on the other side of the highway with a lot of souveniers. There also is a plaza across Palm Parkway behind a hotel with a Hooters. We are staying at the Comfort Inn we got a real good deal $ 555 for eight nites. Have fun I think you will be very happy.

I know that you guys know sooo much more than I do!!
What is specifically around there? I have a daughter with a disability ( Down syndrome) and i just need to know what is there so that I can make plans.
Thanks again for your help:thumbsup2

Dear Oldie!!!
Sheraton should pay you for that page!! It has everything that I was asking for and then some! It sets my mind at ease seeing all the things there and around the hotel. I was also curious abut the bus schedule and there it was!! Once again, thank you so much for that.
Have a great New Year everyone!!:cool1:
PS I am a bit concerned about the 3 reservations, however. We will be staying from Thursday to Monday and plan on using our points for 3 of the nights. Oh well, I'll figure it out:)

You have three reservations because of the points required: Sun through Thurs are one value (I think it's 3000/night but not 100% sure) and Fri & Sat are another (4000?). Sounds like you have one reservation for the Thursday, one for the Fri & Sat, and another for Sunday. They should know about all of them in the computer but it doesn't hurt to mention it when checking in. Unlike Disney, you should not have to do a check out-check in at the front desk for each reservation.

I agree! A very nice page! Thanks!

We stayed at the Sheraton Safari on points too!

We ate at the Ale House across the street. (The street is busy, so if you have little kids, beware.) It was decent pub/bar type food. I had a huge shrimp basket for very cheap! It was good food for the price.

We also ate at the Macaroni Grill that is across the street but a little ways down (maybe 3 or 4 buildings?).

There is also a Dunkin Donuts across the street.

There is a restaurant right in the parking lot of the hotel practically. I think it was a Denny's-type place (but not Denny's). We did not eat there.
