Restaurants on Harbor Blvd?

I would strongly suggest Mimi's for a good meal and deal. My family cannot wait to go again. It's right beside the HOJO.

Just don't bother with Captain Kids buffet. I would think with so many bad reviews it would either improve itself or go out of business.

Yeah, but believe it or not, there are hoards of people who go to Disney without ever reading these boards or even doing other research. :confused3 We all know better than to eat at Captain Kids, but my in-laws... Well, they took their other grandkids with them and ate there twice! They thought it was great since kids eat free. After all I've read on these boards though, I've never been able to even consider it.

As I commented on Twitter back on my last trip, based on the Yelp reviews, the scariest thing at Disneyland may not be the Tower of Terror, but Captain Kidd's Buffet.

We're just planning our 2nd DLR trip and will be staying at HoJo's, but this is the first I've heard of Captain Kidd's, so of course had not planned on eating there. But now my curiosity is wondering exactly what is so bad? Health rating, bad food, all this and more?

It's the food, it's just disgusting!! The girls kids' meals were OK but my salad was nasty, the lettuce was all iceberg, which is fine, but this was so old it was clear!!!!!! The cucumbers were all dried out (I actually put them in my water glass to rehydrate them LOL), the red onions were pretty dry but they were OK enough to eat, I ate the cheese, the cucumber, the onions, the croutons and the few cherry tomatoes that were in the salad but I didn't eat any of the lettuce, I should have refused to pay for it....DBF had the all-you-can-eat buffet, he found next to nothing he could eat, they never refreshed it while we were eating either....he figured it might get better but it never did. It was just disgusting food and we really shouldn't have paid for his or ours. We did it because the buffet was $7 and kids eat free....I guess we know why now.

That does sound nasty. Who wants to pay less for a meal and run the risk of getting sick while at Disney? (or anywhere else, for that matter)

if you have a car or don't mind 10 bucks for a taxi, there is a place called heroes. OMG it is to die for. awesome portions, 60 beers on taps, and peanuts you throw on the floor. a cab driver told us it his most popular destination and so we went there and haven't looked back since then. don't skip it!!!

never heard of it so i googled it

wow that looks like a nice place to be!!

Please avoid Captain Kidd's. I am shocked that we didn't get sick that night at DLR. Perhaps the human immune system IS as strong as some theorize...

Garden Walk is just around the corner from DLR and walking distance. They have several restuarants there. Last time we went to Bubba Gumps for the first time and loved it! The service was excellent. Next time we go we'll watch Forrest Gump first though. We have never seen the movie and weren't able to participate in the waitress's pop quiz. :sad2:

Oh goodness. I still have nightmares from when we went to Captains. We had eyed that place many times, and always wanted to go-never again.

Our favorite is Bucca Di Peppo a few blocks south on Harbor. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, and well priced for the amount of food you get. Be ready to book ahead tho, or be willing to wait for a table. I think a must do at least once during your stay.
