Can anyone recommend restaurants that are not in the parks. My wife and I are taking a Disney Cruise and we would like to eat at a reasonable restaurant the day we get back from the cruise. We will not be visiting any of the parks (unfortunately) so we will not be able to eat at any restaurants in the parks but would like to eat somewhere nice before we start our trip home. Hope someone can recommend a nice place or two?

Thanks
Jon

P.S we don't have the kids with us so we are thinking more adult type places.

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge has become one of our favorites. Although, after coming off the Disney Cruise, you may not be all that hungry for an "all you can eat" type restaurant! Another favorite, is the Flying Fish at Disney's Boardwalk -- it's also a great place to walk around after dinner.

Flying Fish is great. You can also walk the Boardwalk too! The food there is amazing!

2 adults not on dining plan.

I would pick in this order:

1. bluezoo
2. Il Mulino
3. Citricos
4. Flying Fish

Jiko has wonderful food, is relaxing and you could check out the animals with the night vision goggles afterwards.

You didn't mention where you were staying..

One restaurant that my husband and I keep saying we have to try when we don't have the kids with us is Artist Point. The location seems lovely and the menu sounds very good. Plus the Wilderness Lodge is just a nice, relaxing place to wander around.

If you want to get away from the parks for a bit, right down the road is Celebration, FL. There are several reasonable restaurants on Front Street -

Cafe D'Antonio - Italian
Celebration Town Tavern - Seafood (great clams), steaks
Columbia - Cuban and Spanish
Shannon's - Irish

After dinner, you can take a relaxing stroll down Front Street - it's beautiful!

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is in the Dr. Phillips area. There are any number of really nice restaurants there that aren't being negatively affected food quality wise, or service wise by the DDP. :)

Thanks for the all the great tips. HunnyJar, this will actually be our last day in the DW area. We are not actually staying in Orlando. Our last splurge day will go something like this. Disembark from our Disney Cruise in the morning, drive into Orlando to Downtown Disney to get in some last minuite shopping and lunch, maybe do a water park in the afternoon and then go eat at a nice restaurant in the evening. After we finish dinner we plan to head north to Valdosta GA, where our actual hotel is for the night. Yes we will most likely get in late, but we always make the most of our trips. The next day we have another 7 hours of driving to get home so I didn't want to drive the entire 11 hours in one day.

Blizzard Beach = Jiko; less formally, Sanaa
Typhoon Lagoon = blue zoo, Fulton's, Il Mulino; less formally, Bongo's, Kouzzina; much less formally, Raglan Road; much, much less formally, Wolfgang Puck Express; sandwiches for the ride home, Earl of Sandwich.

Thanks for all the great tips. We have decided to go to Artist Point as we have not eaten there before and we love the Wilderness Lodge.:thumbsup2
