I am trying to find some family friendly restaurants near US. We are a family of 5 me, DH, DD16, DS12, DS14. The boys like burgers, DD16 likes salads and pasta and me and DH like a little of everything. The boys do not like chinese food. I'm trying to find a family friendly restaurant where they have a little of this and that. You know dinners, sandwhiches, pasta etc. hopefully not too expensive too otherwise we will probably just hit Citywalk or something. We don't mind fast food either as we will be vacationing so we eat pretty much anything.

TIA for any and all information:)

Will you by chance be coming south to US from I-5 to the north? If so, then Farrels Ice Cream Parlor in Santa Clarita is a must do!! About 20 miles north of US. Just like the old Farrels of the 1970's. Kids will love it. Great burgers, salads etc and fantastic ice cream. But its the antics of the staff that make it so fun.

If not then the restaurants at Citywalk are quite good. We love Wolfgang Pucks or Tony Romas but there are several other good choices.

Are you stopping at Universal? If so, I'd just eat there. If you can't decide on 1 place, there's a food court across from the theaters on the upper level with 7-8 fast food stalls. Check the CityWalk website for the current lineup. I know Panda Express and Pink's are there.

Maybe try Bob's on Riverside Dr. in Burbank. I don't usually go there for the variety, but because it's a fun, cool looking little piece of history.

This is an old standby for me, although I haven't been to any of the Southern California locations.

Closest location is in Burbank (maybe 5 miles), but it shouldn't take too long to get there. It would probably require taking city streets, since the freeway layout would mean going out of your way.

Burgers start at about $8. There are various pasta and other entrees at maybe $9 and up. You could go expensive with steaks or other entrees too.

Farrells was one of my old time favorites as a kid. The last time we went to DL we took the kids here its in Santa Clarita but I was a little disapointed because the Farrels I remember had a little candy store attached to it & had barrels of candy in it a kids dream store... the one in santa clarita has a mini glof course & go cart track also very cool but I guess I had this picture in my head from when I was a kid & it just wasn't the same for me. Thanks for the suggestion I appreciate it :) I may try wgp though as the one in wdw was awesome.

I guess I should have said we were going to DL & will be traveling from anaheim for 2 days & also going to the WB studio tour & universal studios.

Micelli's is very close and is good Italian food. The best part is the singing waiters and waitresses!

Hollywood & Highland is not far from Universal Studios. You can take Cahuenga south which turns into Highland. The shopping center is at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland. Parking is $2 for 4 hours with a validation. There is a Johnny Rockets, California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. there. The Disney Soda Fountain is across the street on Hollywood Blvd. The Walk of Fame is right outside H&H and the Chinese Theater with the footprints is next door.

Also, if you have the time, the Grove and Farmer's Market are just a few miles from USH. The Grove has The Cheesecake Factory, Marmalade Cafe, The Farm of Beverly Hills, etc. and Farmer's Market has many different kinds of food. This might be something fun to do after your day at USH.

Bob's Big Boy is a great choice if you're going to WB, it's right up the street. I've had a few celeb sightings there over the years. On Friday nights they have classic cars in the parking lot, it can get pretty crowded. On Saturday and Sunday nights they do carhop service. The nostalgia for me is eating inside, since out Bob's didn't have carhop service when I was a kid.

I believe if you go on the tour during the week you have access to one of the studio's cafes, which is more like a cafeteria.

Just in case anyone is interested... I went to Costco 2 days ago and I saw that they had Elephant Bar $100= 25X4 gift cards for $75 and on costco.com they also have wolfgand puck (located in City Walk) giftcards $100= $25X4 for $80 in case anyone was looking for a good deal...:goodvibes

A good, inexpensive, fast Mexican chain is Poquito Mas. There are a few around Universal and WB. By the Elephant Bar in Burbank is BJ's Brewhouse. They have a great variety of food and brew not only their own beer, but root beer as well! Overall, though, the restaurants at CityWalk are not any more expensive if you're doing a regular sit down. We live close enough that they give us a free parking pass and will often choose one of those restaurants for dinner during the off season.

I went online and signed up for the Bob's Big Boy e-club and they send you an e-coupon for a free double deck cheeseburger or a hot fudge ice cream cake. Just thought you would like to know. :) We are definately going here and really looking forward to it.

You'll have a great time here. This Bob's is the oldest one in existence. They still make great food.

Just an update we ate here yesterday after the Warner Bros. Studio tour. This place is down the street from the tour & the hamburgers were awesome!!! They also offer vanilla coke/diet coke if you ask for it & that was also great. Its a must eat type of restaurant.
