Does anyone know what the tax rate is when dining in the parks or resorts? I'm trying to show DH why we should get the dining plan and am trying to be somewhat accurate in my totals.

Sorry if this was posted somewhere else, but I couldn't find it after doing a forum search.

THANKS!

The basic Sales Tax rate in the Starte of Florida is 6.0%. Each county, by putting it on the ballot, may add on a surtax of 0.5%, 1.0% or 1.5%. The sales tax covers many goods and services, including meals or food to go that has been freshly prepared. That covers all restaurants and counter service.

Orange County, which includes most of WDW, has a surtax of 0.5%, so the tax on goods, services and meals in most of WDW is 6.5%.

Osceola County, which is the All-Stars Resorts and the Wide World of Sports, has a surtax of 1.0%, the the tax there is 7.0%.

On top of that, Orange County has a 5.0% short term renatl (hotel) tax which is an add-on, the the tax on your room is 11.5%. In Osceola County the lodging tax is 6.0%, so people staying at the All-Stars (or in Kissimmee) will be paying a 13.0% tax on lodging.

TYRy dont forget that the gratuity is also included in the meal plan. So you need to include this amount in your figures when comparing out of pocket to plan
