This weekend we are going to Chicago to see Peter Pan at the Chicago Tribune Freedom Center North and am looking for suggestions of great places to eat in that area. It'll be me, my DD23 and DD16. Thanks!

What kind of food do you like?

American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican -- we're open to other options as well.

Someplace fun for that age might be The Billy Goat Tavern (the Cheeseburger... Cheeseburger...No Pepsi...Coke place from Saturday Night Live).

Billy Goat Tavern Original
Near Tribune Towers and Wrigley Building
430 N. Michigan Ave at Lower Level

Although its not very fancy. If you are looking for someplace nicer, I like to go to Harry Caray's. Its an Italian Steakhouse (pasta and steaks). It has some nice Cubs memorabilia.

33 West Kinzie Street
Chicago, IL 60654

We love Chicago style pizza. We went to a place someone recommended to us I think it started with G??? Best pizza I have ever had.

We loved The Cheescake Factory when there last June! Also get some popcorn at Garrett's it was awesome!!!

Oh my goodness. You are within driving distance of restaurant mecca! While I'm not as savvy on the restaurant scene now that I live in the burbs. I'll give you a few suggestions.

A good place to get some ideas would be on Metromix Chicago. Good restaurant reviews.

If you are into excellent food & beer pairings I'd highly recommend The Publican. The menu makes it appear to a bit out there, but everything I've tried has been outstanding!

Another place I've recently read good reviews on is http://www.girlandthegoat.com/

This place was reviewed on Check Please (restaurant reviews on PBS station). Looks promising and close to your theater. http://www.westtowntavern.com/

It would either be Gino's East or Giordano's. Both excellent Chicago pizza!

Gino's East was the one our friends recommended. Giordanos is where we ended up, it was closer to our hotel...delicious!

For Chicago style pizza there are at least 1/2 dozen big name places. In addition to the 2 mentioned there are Lou Malnati's, Uno's, Duo's, & Edwardo's.

One of our favorite places is Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder. This is not your typical Chicago pizza.

Ed Debevic's is fun - 50's diner look with rude wait staff.

Geja's is a great fondue place.

Many good Italian restaurants and steakhouses. Also many chains like Cheesecake factory, Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood (to name a few).

Much depends on where you want to go, what you want to eat and how much you want to spend.

There are not a lot of restaurants in the exact area the theater is located in. There are fabulous restaurants on Michigan Ave and the surrounding area but it's about a mile away from the theater. Giordano's and Gino's East are excellent choices for pizza. Rosebud on Rush has fabulous Italian cuisine. If you like Cajun food, Heaven on Seven is excellent! Lawry's has delicious Prime Rib. Billy Goat Tavern has good cheeseburgers, too. If you want something fancy, RL (Ralph Lauren) is excellent. Rainforest Cafe' and Hard Rock Cafe' are very touristy. There's a Rock and Roll McDonald's across the street from both restaurants, too. Ed Debevic's is touristy but fun (very similar to 50's PT at DHS). Portillo's has excellent fast food (hamburgers, hot dogs, beef sandwiches, salads).

Have fun!

If you're looking for something really different (but REALLY GOOD) try The Purple Pig - just "upstairs" on Michigan from The Billy Goat Tavern.

All three of these places are fabulous, but West Town Tavern is my favorite! In fact, for Mother's Day my husband gave me a certificate for Peter Pan tickets and dinner at West Town Tavern!! Its not far from the theater (errr... tent) either, not even a mile west. Its our go to place for a good meal. Delicious, and unpretentious. Fennel Salad.... Sea Scallops.... Duck Confit... Beer Cheese.... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!

I love Frontera Grill/Topolobampo in the River North area. They are owned by chef Rick Bayless and the food is terrific! Try to eat at a locally owned restaurant if you can. There are so many that I wouldn't bother with a chain restaurant.

I think the Girl and The Goat won The Chicago Tribunes Outstanding restaurant (don't remember exact title, I just remember reading about it in the paper). But you might want to check out the menu first if you decide to go there.

When my girlfirends and I take a trip to Chicago for the weekend we ALWAYS eat at Scoozi. Great Italian food and a huge wine list. The bread and olive oil are so tasty. I had a pumpkin ravioli there one fall that was out of this world! Love love love it.

Gino's East is OK but I prefer Edwardo's deep dish. Especially the stuffed spinach pizza.MMmmm...

Soooo many great Chicago restaurants, its hard to recommend just one. Our very favorite place is Brasserie Jo's. It's a wonderful french bistro, semi casual with fantastic food!

Good Morning! I just wanted to add, you're probably going to need reservations for many of these places. Try calling or try opentable.com.

We saw this show just two weeks ago. Love, Love, Loved It!!! I am a huge Peter Pan fan and this was just amazing! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

BTW we ate a Rainforest Cafe after, not the greatest food in the world but super fun and my kids love it! Ed Debevics (sp?) is really fun too.

So many great restaurants. Love Cheesecake Factory and Giordano's. Check out restaurant.com!
