Restaurant suggestions for breakfast in Vegas

Can anyone recommend some great restaurants in Las Vegas for breakfast? We will probably be doing mostly buffets for dinner, but would like something else for breakfast.

We're on a budget, so meals under $10 would be preferable, but not mandatory. Also, we will be staying at either Luxor or MGM Grand, so something somewhat close by would be preferable as well.

So, any recommendations? :goodvibes

It's a tough challenge. Unfortunately, the major strip resorts know they have a captive audience, so they don't give you good cheap food options. Your $10 budget is going to get stretched even with a cup of coffee and order of pancakes at a strip resort coffee shop.

For good cheap breakfast, you have to break outside the casino bubble. If you've got a car, there are lots of non-resort places. For typical breakfast fare, see check out The Cracked Egg http://thecrackedegglv.com/ or Blueberry Hill http://www.blueberryhillrestaurants.com/

If you have no car, it's a bit tricky in the South Strip neighborhood you are considering. The Showcase mall is in front of the MGM - there's both a food court and a Mexican restaurant (La Sala) that serve decent breakfasts. You aren't going to find a "great" breakfast there, but you can get some decent food for under $10 and won't feel ripped off. There's also a McDonalds in the food court of MGM itself.

Luxor is slightly trickier. My favorite breakfast would be at the House of Blues - an easy walk over to the Mandalay. It'll be a bit more than $10, but much better than what you'll get at the Luxor coffee shop for about the same price.

Now if you want one great breakfast, don't mind going over $10 and have the ability to travel, go to Bouchon at the Venetian http://frenchlaundry.com/bouchonLV/bouchonLV.htm/ It's a beautiful place to eat, and the food is to die for. Try the French toast - I promise you'll come back here and thank me. (One note - Bouchon is actually kind of hard to find at the Venetian if you don't know where to look. It's not by the other Venetian restaurants, or the Canal Shops, it's in the Venezia Tower. But it's very easy access from the valet/self-parking once you know where you are going.)

If you have a car go to the Original Pancake house at the Green Valley Ranch, or to the Hash House A Go Go on Saharah. Plan to share what ever you order the portions are huge !!!

If you don't have a car the crepe stand at the Paris is very good.

My husband and I ate the Denny's for breakfast a few times on our Honeymoon. I believe it's near the Venetian Hotel. It seemed like the prices were slightly higher than other Denny's but that's just the way Vegas is.

Have Fun!

Ellis Island, about a block off the strip has a $3.95 steak and eggs breakfast, as well as a $4.95 steak dinner. Had them both our last trip. The steak dinner comes with a decent salad, vegatable, choice of potato, and a decent 8 oz. sirloin. A carafe (litre) of wine runs $9.

I wasn't aware of the breakfast special, but the steak special is a perennial favorite of mine. Note that the price is up to $6.95, but now comes with a microbrew beer (or root beer).

Be sure to go when they have karaoke in the lounge!

but where is Ellis Island?

We've never been to Las Vegas and are still figuring it all out. It sounds like a great place!

Can someone tell me where it is - like, head to (blank) casino and .... :confused3

We get lost real easy! ;) Thanks! :goodvibes

Ellis Island is behind Paris/Bally's - two very long blocks off the strip. See

Keep in mind that EI is smokier and more worn down than the major strip resorts. But it has great specials on good food, a friendly staff, and the worst karaoke on the world.

My wife corrected my about the steak and eggs special...it was $3.49 last December so it might have gone up a bit also.

Neither of these specials are on the menu, so you have to ask for them. Our waiter at breakfast clued us in on the steak and eggs special.

Just do a google search and there are plenty of entries with the address and maps. It's just a block or so off the strip on Koval. We walked there from the Venetian. Good luck.
