We're leaving in 2 weeks (WOO HOO!) and am just curious if anyone has some family friendly local restaurant suggestions we should try out?

We had lunch at a place called the Daily News Cafe in Carlsbad. It is open for breakfast & lunch and was reasonably priced and the food was good.

These restaurants are all in San Diego...

You might try the Corvette Diner - it's on Point Loma in Liberty Station.

The Studio Diner is good - it's in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego.

In Old Town, Old Town Mexican Cafe is good, as is Casa Guadalajara if you want Mexican food.

Try the fish tacos at Rubio's - it's a local chain of fast-food places, though they all have seating areas.

These suggestions are all for Carlsbad -

Vigilucci's is a great privately owned family chain in the area - http://www.vigiluccis.com/. It can get pricey for dinner, but they do a great Sunday brunch in Carlsbad.

I second the Daily News suggestion.

Pizza Port has decent pizza and a huge beer selection.

Hennessey's and O'Sullivan's are both Irish pubs in the Village Area. I've only eaten at Hennessey's, but the food was pretty good.

Off the Palomar Airport exit on the 5 is In & Out if you want a cheap but good burger/fries/milkshake.
