Looking for some restaurant suggestions to celebrate my Dad's birthday.

We've all been to WDW many times. This trip, it will be myself, DH, DD(3), DS(1), my father and mother.

My parents like traditional food - steaks, pastas, etc. They aren't much into trying ethnic foods, although they do like Italian.

I'd like a nice restaurant, but one where we can feel comfortable with the two kids. Would like a hotel dinner vs. a park dinner.

Right now I am thinking Whispering Canyon (although Dad won't like the attention). Any other ideas?

Thanks so much!

I think I would suggest Concourse Steakhouse or what about Trail's End Buffet at Ft. Wilderness? I think WCC might be a little too adventurous if you don't think he'll like the attention. If they know it's his birthday, he will probably get more than he wants there. What about the Hoop De Do0? He might enjoy that.

Thanks very much!

I should have mentioned that my parents prefer sit-down to buffets.

Anyone else?

We are going to the California Grille with my 65 year old parents! I celebrated my birthday there last year and it was wonderful! My kids loved it ,too! They brought me a yummy slice of chocolate cake and sang Happy Birthday. If you get there at the right time ,you can watch WISHES from the observation deck outside or possibly from your seats if you get a table at the window. Yachtsman Steakhouse might be good too, although we have not tried it yet!

It really depends on what you're looking to spend on dinner. If you want high end I would choose either California Grill, The Flying fish or Yachtsman Steahouse. California Grill or The flying fish will be a bit more on the loud side so the kids would probably do better here. Le Cellier is also one of our favorites in Epcot. I also love dinner at The Brown Derby in MGM. I've always brought my kids to every kind of restaurant with me and honestly I find all the restaurants in Disney to be kid friendly.

Does the California Grill take reservations? It would be great to be able to watch the show from our table, but I'm sure those seats are prime.

Have you heard good things about the Yachtsman?

Thanks for your help!

You have to have an ADR for Cali Grille! You can request a table with a castle view but it is just a request. Definitely mention your dad's birthday when you make the ADR!
I actually haven't heard too much about Yachtsman one way or another. You could do a search under this thread and see what you can find out.
