Today was our first day at WDW!!
We arrived at EPCOT at around 1pm. We had a quick lunch at the Electric Umbrella, and a dinner at the Coral Reef.
The Electric Umbrella was OK. The cashier was pretty aloof and didn't seem too interested in taking care of us. Foodwise, DD6 and DD7 had the chicken nugget meal. They were happy. I sampled their french fries - way too salty for my taste. Their meals included a drink and applesauce. DW had the turkey wrap + coleslaw. She liked it. I had the roast beef sandwich + coleslaw. It was fair, but about what I expected for a counter service quick meal. After a 3 hour drive, hotel check-in, and getting from WL to Epcot, a fair meal was acceptable.
The Coral Reef was very nice. We had made ADRs several weeks ago for 7:40pm. After riding Mission Space 3 times straight with no waiting, we headed over for dinner at about 7:05. We were seated within 5 minutes. The view of the aquarium was really nice. We were in the back row and our view was good, but I'm sure the people closer in had a much nicer view. Both DDs loved seeing the giant sea turtle (Crush to them, of course), the manta rays, the sharks, and assorted marine beasties. Our CM, Michele, was very good. She was professional, pleasant, and attentive. Our DDs had a drink called a Blue Whale, which is a $5 cup of Sprite with a flashing plastic ice cube in it. The flashing ice cubes came in quite handy a short time later as it kept them entertained while awaiting the Illuminations show. They both had cheese pizza. DW had the grilled mahi. It came with a couscous side dish. She really liked it. She said it did not taste fishy at all. Both DDs sampled it without knowing it was fish, and they thought it was meat. I had the filet mignon. It was great and cooked just right. The potatos were good, but the spinach had an odd taste. The only downside I noticed at the Coral Reef was a lot of ambient background noise. We all liked the Coral Reef and I would recommend it.
Today's cost (no meal plan):
Electric Umbrella $29.97
Coral Reef $151.39 (tip included)
