I'm just getting to my restaurant reviews. Actually, I'm lying..this will be my first time. Here goes. I'll rate 1-5, 5 being best of course.

Artist Pointe - 5 - Excellent service, delicious creative menu. Our server was so wonderful. My husband was undecided about getting dessert because he wanted chocolate but didn't like the idea of chocolate bread pudding, their only chocolate offering that night. So he declined. The server brought it anyway ON THE HOUSE. I had the pork chop with mac n cheese and hubby had salmon. I had the best dessert I've ever had at WDW - Artist Pointe Berry Cobbler.

Citricos - 2 - The service was fine but we were totally unimpressed with the food. Hubby ordered lamb chops medium rare and I got filet medium rare. Mine came out medium and hubby's was medium-well. I just kept mine because it wasn't too bad but he sent it back. Okay, it came back again medium to medium well. He said the taste was awful...and of course he didn't want to try it a third time because we had lost faith. They did take it off the ticket but this certainly wasn't what we had expected from Citricos. My steak was just okay, I could have made one better myself. Totally unimpressed and suprised because we had high hopes for this one.

California Grill - 4.5 - Yum. That's all I can say. Excellent food & service and as you know, a killer view.

Land Grille Room - 3 - Well, we like this place. Good food and it's kind of fun. But, the service was't the greatest.

Whispering Canyon - 4 - fun place, good food, good service. We only did breakfast.

Concourse Steak House - 4 - had breakfast there and it was a nice surprise. Delicious eggs benedict and so much fun watching the monorail whisk through.

Kona Cafe - 2.5 - had breakfast there and it's usually our favorite breakfast spot. Service was bad...really bad and the tonga toast wasn't as per usual. Kona coffee was still excellent.
want to ask everyone an important question.

That's it - it was a short trip this year because we also went to Siesta Key, near Sarasota to enjoy the gulf beaches.

I do have an important question. We go every year, sometimes twice. We like to eat at nice restaurants when we go. It's just us, no kids. We're use to a nice dinner costing about $70-$80 tops. All of a sudden, you can't get outta' there for less than $100. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not cheap or anything but I don't feel real good about spending $100 each evening for a nice meal. We really were, for the first time, disappointed in Disney, for other reasons besides this. I'd love to hear your opinions.

Enjoyed your reviews. Too bad about Citricos. We've had very good food there but sorry to hear of your experience. Ditto with Kona. Yours is the second report I've read of bad service there and like you we've enjoyed great service and food over the years. Hope it is one server who shapes up quickly or leaves!

That Berry Cobbler is a favorite of my husband and eldest son too. Glad to hear that you enjoyed most of your meals.

Thanks for the reviews! Sounds like I'll have to put Artist Pointe on my list for the next trip :p

I'm not sure about the bills ... Our bills (two adults) is usually around $70-$80 as well, but I suspect it would be higher if we ordered wine or other alcoholic drinks ... I don't really care for either so we usually just pass on it.

You ate at some of our favorite spots. Too bad about Citrico's. My guess is that it wasn't crowded at all (?) so no real excuse for a kitchen failure.
$$ wise, it's about what we've come to expect. We always have 2 drinks each, split an appetizer, and then usually get dessert and coffee. We're always prepared to pay a bit more at WDW anyway, but the prices aren't that far out of sync with similar restaurants around these parts.
(ie--went to a Seafood place in Baltimore over the weekend. The basic fried seafood platter was $37.50!!)

To answer some questions...

Nope, Citricos wasn't crowded at all. Empty tables all over the place. I would say it was only 25% full. You're right, no excuse.

I would highly highly recommend Artist Pointe to anyone. Such a wonderful restaurant.

And, about the cost issue. We don't order alcohol but we usually get an appetizer to split, maybe coffee and we split a dessert. I swear it use to be $70-$80 and now it's over $100. Oh well. Here in these parts (NC) that's just insane. For instance, my mom and I went out to eat yesterday at a decent restaurant and the total bill was $40. We had salad, entree and split dessert. No appetizer or alcohol. But, I did have water. She had water and coffee after dinner. I just find $100 "hard to swallow" I guess. Excuse the pun. And it's sad because dining is one of our favorite things to do on vacation. Pretty soon we'll start going off property. I'm getting cheap I guess.

Well, I enjoyed writing my first restaurant review. Think I'll do it again. It's fun

yup, the prices at wdw don't really shock us b/c that is what we are used to around here. it was sort of funny at our wedding in wdw a lot of our guests were complaining about the prices of counter service places when they went to mk the day before. a lot of those counter service places are the same price as fast food places around here, and i think most of the wdw counter service places have a lot better food.

thanks for the reviews!

Thanks for the reviews! Had the same experience at the Kona early in May after two years of great experiences, hopefully this is not a trend. I have to agree with those who say WDW prices are not that much more than what we usually pay when we go out when home so we budget about $60-75 per adult for food per day (meals and snacks) and are happy if it is less than that .

Thanks for the reviews.

Our experience at Artist's Point wasn't "magical". But we will try it again.

Sorry about Citrico's. It was "magical" for us. Probably the best meal all around we've had at WDW. Our V&A experience was so long ago (1995) :( that I can't remember too much (except that I spilled wine on myself:o .

As for the prices, I guess they may be a little higher than here in Cleveland for comparable restaurants (believe it or not, yes there are comparable restuarants in Cleveland:D ). However, talk about sticker shock, we went to Barracelli's Inn here in Cleveland about 15 years ago and paid $150 for two. That was back in the days of paying $50-70 for a nice meal for two.

We usually get a bottle of wine, so obviously the price of the wine can have a significant impact on the bill.
