my husband and i will be staying at royal pacific resort three weeks from now. i've started to make lunch and dinner reservations, as food is very important to us (if i don't eat, i get mean and grumpy, and i'm a food snob, so good restaurants are important) i managed to make one lunch reservation and one dinner reservation--mythos for lunch, and tchoup shop for dinner, on our first full day there. i'm struggling with how to deal with the rest of the reservations. we will be there wednesday night (late--husband's arrival day), thursday (the day i've already made reservations) friday and saturday. we're leaving on sunday afternoon. any input on where or how to make reservations is welcomed. we were imagining spending our evenings at city walk, but i'm not a fan of 'let's see if we can get a table'--yet for some reason i can't seem to figure out how to make reservations at any of the city walk restaurants.
it seems that making these reservations is rather difficult, as you have to search for something very specific on open table dot com, and even then some on-site restaurants do not show up. we would like to try mama della's (we think) at portofino bay, but cannot find it online anywhere. we're ok with bice, but it has garnered some pretty bad reviews, so that's a concern. we travel rather frequently in major cities, and have never had a problem making reservations. universal seems to be the worst of both worlds--it doesn't have the crazy early booking of disney, or the crazy easy booking of a regular city. i guess i'm asking--how does one do this? there are no books or websites devoted to 'how to eat well at universal'. help please!
