When we were there end June/begin July -We pre booked the first night but then just went to the concierge in the morning to book where we fancied for the evening, you could just turn up and wait but there may be queues around the "normal" lunch/dinner times. I would have thought you would be ok to do this as i think its only the really busy times like xmas/nye that you need to pre book everything before hand.

you should be alright on the day, you can book at city hall or at the concierge desk at the Disney hotels.

I'm going July 6th to 9th and I phoned up yesterday and booked - just to be safe.

The people on the phone are very friendly and helpful!

I have never called to get reservations. On the day we want to eat, we go to city hall and get our reservations. We always got what we wanted!

I always book, just to be on the safer side... It may not always be necessary but still, like to be a litte organised

I just got back from the Magic yesterday.

First week of June, no school hols - I'd not need to book anything in advance I thought. I was mistaken.

I couldn't get the Plaza Gardens tea party for any suitable day (and there are only 2 of us in my party). I asked at City Hall at lunchtime on Monday when we arrived, they could not accommodate us until Wednesday at 5.30 (too late, as thats when we had to leave to start the journey home).

So I'd say, if you have somewhere in mind, book it in advance. There is no problem if you later decide the time/venue doesn't suit you.

I agree Maybe the half board vouchers are increasing demand for the restaurants? But hopefully it won't ever get as bad as the DDP effect at WDW!!

Is it really bad there then? I'm planning a coronado springs trip next year, and was gonna go for the DDP. But compared to DLP WDW is so daunting! Even the DIS boards about florida are too huge for me to process!

It's not bad, as such, it just requires a lot more planning. Whether you use the DDP or not, you still need to make reservations well in advance for the onsite restaurants of your choice - and bookings can be made from 180 days out. You could leave making reservations until you get there, as I'm sure there will be always somewhere free - but it may not be where you want, or at a time you want. Don't fret about the Florida planning - just do it a bit at a time and ask lots of questions on the trip planning board if you need to.

DLP just requires a much more relaxed attitude to planning, including restaurant reservations. So I'm hoping that never changes!

Go over the to UK boards and they will help you out with any WDW questions you have.

Awesome, thankyou!! There are jsut SO many thread in teh WDW trip planning bit that I cant find anything helpful, I hadn't thought of the UK board! Off there now!!

I can;t believe I'm planning a WDW trip when I'm not even at DLP yet.
