We love San Angel Inn! It's been a must do since we first went there in 2007. We're going to WDW again this October and San Angel Inn is scheduled for dinner for our first day!
personally, we have better authentic mexican food locally (the tacos were just so-so there). the service was also definitely something to be desired, probably because it's always so packed. i like the ambience though, which is why we chose to eat there in the first place. to be fair, the last time we ate there was in '07, so maybe things have changed?
Love the place, Love the food..especially Love the atmosphere..I would pay extra to sit by the water...if you could we ended up by the water 2 times and we really liked it, we always ask, but as always no guarantees If only my 2 sons liked the food more, we'd go more often!
So many people have such strong dislike for this restaurant that I'm thinking it must have been really bad IN THE PAST! If you read more current reviews (say the last year or so) you'll find most of them to be very favorable. We had a fantastic meal there last October. Everything was delicious from appetizers to desserts!!! Frankly, it blew Le Cellier out of the water for me!! Huge thumbs up!!!
Yes, for sure its getting way more love these days than in years past. We have always enjoyed it but a lot of people find it too different from the typical tex mex most places serve and in the past the Tostitos chips they served were food for fodder here on the disboards! Those are gone now and I find the whole menu different.
I am betting a lot of nayers ate there a long time ago, although every restaurant in WDW will get naysayers that just don't like a place which is understandable.
One thing is for sure, if you want a combo type plate of Mexican, this is not your place. I am not even sure they serve burritos or enchiladas anymore. Its not Tex Mex which is not to say I don't love Tex Mex, but that is not authentic Mexican food. San Angel is. Although Mexico has many different regions with differing cuisines and I doubt SAI represents but a few.
I have been there for lunch at least 4 or 5 times. If todays million dollar question was to name one entree I ate there..I would walk away a loser.
BUT.....I drool every day thinking about the bread pudding dessert. OMG.....Heavenly! Best of all the restaurants on Disney property and better than any Ive ever had even outside the parks..and thats a lot coming from a New Englander..
