No for us.

When we went in Dec this was one of the ressies I was looking most forward to.
Unfortunately I didn't like the dishes. I don't like sweet spices on my "food", for dessert that is fine, but I don't like my beef or veggies to taste like Christams...way to much cinnamon in everything.

Food wasn't bad, just not our taste at all.

I agree with this. We just didn't care for the particular seasonings that seem to be in almost every dish. And I am one of the few people on earth, apparently, that doesn't like Zebra Domes.

We've been for dinner twice and breakfast once. We loved it. My son is allergic to cashews and pistachios. The chef was very good about telling us what he could and could not have. If I had it my way we would return for dinner every trip. DH likes to try new things though :)

For all of those who did not enjoy dinner at Boma, I would suggest going for breakfast. Most African dinner fare requires a liking for some (to us Westerners) odd flavor combinations. However, breakfast foods are much more in line with how we eat here... Delicious every time!!!

Glad to hear this! We missed Boma on our last trip (overslept for our ADR) but I really wanted to try it so I have it tentatively scheduled for our March of 2011 trip but all the "cinnamon" comments were starting to worry me. So I'm really happy to hear that breakfast it's so sweet and is more in line with our western taste buds.

Its a Yea for us!

We have only been to Boma for dinner and it has always been good. That said, there have been certain days when we preferred the selections versus other days - it's always good but sometimes the buffet offerings are more to our personal tastes than other times.

There are a lot of mixings of sweet and savory on the buffet.
However, there isn't cinnamon in everything there....I feel this is an exaggeration. Maybe 5 things on the buffet have cinnamon or nutmeg flavors - the fufu, bobotie, a soup or two and maybe a chutney.

You can avoid the sweet/savory flavor mixing if you want to - just ask your server what dishes are particularly sweet and avoid those.

Whenever I disagree with anything on the internet, there are bound to be people saying "Great, more for me!"

And I'm inclined to hate that sort of thing.

But in this case, for those of you who don't enjoy Boma? GREAT, MORE FOR ME!

I kid... I kid...

I didn't vote. This used to be a 'must do' for us every trip. Several trips ago, the food was just OK, service was terrible, and the noise level was beyond belief. We haven't been back. However, I do have an ADR for our December trip. We'll see.

I say Yea, DH says no. I thought dinner was really good, DH didn't hate it, it just wasn't his "cup o tea";). The biggest issue was it was a pain to get there and get back to our resort, since we didn't have a car.

Boma is my absolute favorite and a must do each trip. I love all the different spices.

Also, those who complain about the long buffet line-you don't have to start at the end and work your way through. Just grab a plate and hop in where there is a space. They encourage this as it is supposed to resemble animals grazing in the savanna.

Went for dinner; first time there. LOVED it. Fascinating choices. I didn't find overwhelming spices. I am not particularly adventurous about food; in fact, I have trouble out in the "real world" because everything seems to have a Tex/Mex flair now and I do. not. like. peppers. There were a couple of dishes that either were marked as spicy or had visible peppers; I just avoided those.

Our server told us the dinner offerings change 4 times/week, so I can see where one person's experience might be much different from someone else's.

There was a bit of a line for the hot food end of the counter. I thought the adverts said that it was not arranged as a traditional "straight buffet line". It pretty much worked that way, though; maybe we're all just creatures of habit and arrange ourselves that way?

We loved Boma and had a wonderful experience there! We are counting down the days until we can eat there again!

OH and one more thing: ZEBRA DOMES!

My family loves Boma, well at least for dinner. We haven't had breakfast there, so I can't speak to it. We loved the variety of foods and thought the seasonings were awesome. Top it off, my picky eater enjoyed herself too.

For those who have been to many, would you say that this is the best buffet-style dinner on property?

It's in the top two for us. We love Boma and Biergarten very much. I think the variety is what keeps bringing us back.

That's hard to say because there are a lot of factors that go into 'best'.
If you like to try different foods (even though they have the basics), I say yes, it is better than many of the others, and for atmosphere as well.

We tried it for the first time in Sept 09 - needless to say it was the first reservation we made for our Sept '10- trip. The food was unique and flavorful. It was not your typical carved meat buffet. I loved everything about it. :thumbsup2 And the desserts were truly amazing. I am typically not a "lover" of all things buffet but this is one to try. We also enjoyed taking a walk around the AKL property. What an amazing resort. I hope to stay there sometime soon.

We have only eaten at Boma once, but loved, loved, loved it:lovestruc. Kids too.

Why? Because unlike most buffets, Boma is not just about stuffing your face with as much of the familiar foods as you can.

I like to be adventurous when I dine out, but usually can't afford to be. If I go to a regular menu restaurant and I order 1 dish and don't like it, I am stuck with it.

Boma is an adventure in dining where you get to try exotic flavors and if you don't like them, no big deal. Try something else. There are so many dishes to try, you are bound to find something that you like.

Don't think of Boma as an "all you can eat" buffet but rather a "sample exotic flavors" buffet.

BTW, I am salivating b/c I will be eating there in 16 days.

I have not done Boma for breakfast, but after visiting here for a second time for supper I would think I vote no. If you like spicy food and are willing to try exotic dishes then Boma would be definitely a yes. I like trying different food, but my mouth was BURNING after eating some of the meats this past Saturday. I am not big on curry or hot spices and noticed a lot of both in some dishes. I wouldn't say the food is terrible though, as they still had good salad items and fresh fruit. My dh loves spicy food, but he didn't particularly like the food either.

I have to add that the deserts were awesome though! I enjoyed the alcoholic beverages, the atmosphere at Boma and the resort very much! If you go be sure to check out the grounds. Don't stop at the savannah just outside the main lobby, but venture out past the pool.

It's kind of a Yea and Nay for me. A HUGE Yea for breakfast and a Nay for dinner for us. Breakfast is our favourite at WDW but dinner we could miss, we prefer Jiko

I voted yea because I think it is certainly worth trying once. We did, and I did as another poster mentioned and took small portions of everything to try. It was interesting and I enjoyed it, but not enough to make a separate trip over there.

As for other buffets, we have also done Biergarten, Crystal Palace, and Trail's End. Each is a different experience with different types of food. We like each one for what they are.
