Thanks Poohbear. Good to know that someone else remembers . Somehow I recall that it seemed the restaurant was "raised" above ground level (hence "Terrace"?) Uncleromulus any chance you're around and can shed any light on this eatery?

I think it was kind of where Chef Mickeys is now.... but back against windows on that side of the hotel. Whereas Chef Mickeys is more in the center.

(I could be wrong but I do have memories of eating there!)

To further cloud the issue There was a buffet at the Contemporary prior to what we now know as Chef Mickey's. This would go back to the late 70s-early80s. My foggy recollection was that the characters were a brief diversion during the meal rather than the whole crux of the event. I also recall that the food was much higher quality and that there was no madness to get in to eat there. I don't think it was in the same location as Chef Mickey's is now, but I could be wrong. Anyone else remember?

That's the one I was thinking of, I think. We went it in the 80s, and we walked in, no reservations. But come to think of it, I'm not sure if WDW was taling any reservations way back then. I think the "big news" on our second visit was that you could now make reservations "up to" whole days in advance. But was that just for theme park resturants?

I remember when Epcot opened, it had those "Skype-like" kiosks where you could make dining reservations.

Definitely the breakfast buffet at Bonfamilies! First place I ever had coffee with chicory and beignets...deelish!

Concourse Steakhouse...heard the food was actually cooked upstairs. Great breakfast and dinner!

Food and Fun Center, open 24 hours, slushees in the drink dispenser, great premade tuna sanwiches on fantastic dill rolls. I'd give my left arm to have that sandwich again. Also awesome Key Lime Pie (real slices) and brownies.

Goofy's Grill at DTD. Once Chef Mickey's left it was replaced by Goofy's Griil. They had awesome burgers there.

Pasta Piazza, Epcot great alternative to WS and the Electric Umbrella.

Rescue Rangers Buffet in the CR. It was a "temporary" restaurant put in place when they did construction on Chef Mickeys. I can't find it in my Trip diary but it had to be around 1995-98.

They should have a Usedtobe Land where all these things still exist...

Those were called World Key kiosks sponsored by AT&T

They were located thur the park, gave information and you could made dining reservations - a live help video host was avaliable if you needed additional assistance.

Concourse Steakhouse. The Wave just isn't doing it for me.
Coral Isle Cafe
The Land Grille Room
The old Chef Mickey's
The Cafe where Chef Mickey's is now. No characters but a nice buffet.
Tangarorroa Terrace. Probably bad spelling!
The Odyssey. Miss their salads.
Sunshine CS is the Land

I'm sure there are more, but that's my list for now.

I think you mean the Pueblo Room, located in the windowed portion of where Chef Mickey's is now.

There was also a joint called Coconino Cove or Grove at that end. The Grand Canyon Concourse sure housed a bunch of restaurants, all of which served essentially the same food.

By the way, I disagree with the notion that the food at WDW was better in the seventies and eighties. Although I was young, I remember many a mediocre or terrible meal. There's no question WDW cuisine really started delivering on its pretensions in the nineties.

I remember not realising that a person would be on the screen at the communicore center and was so flustered when the guy showed up.

I have to vote for the Concourse Steakhouse simply because that's where DH and I ate the night he proposed.

This brings back the BEST memories of EPCOT for us!!! Of course you could actually get Any restaurant you wanted on the day you wanted to eat there........can you imagine what would happen if they took away ADR's today, and went back to making reservations using the kiosks????? Maybe it would take the crowds away from The Fast Pass lines!!!!

Tony's for breakfast------------------loved the cinnamon roll they brought to the table as a "Breakfast Appetizer"!!

1990 Chef Mickey's

1995 Closed to eventually what is now Rainforest Cafe

Wasn't Goofy's Grill a fast food place? I think it might have been near where WoD is now but I'm not entirely sure.

We also miss eating at Pure & Simple. We'd usually get a baked potato & some veggie chili, and watch the "Anacomical Players" while we ate.
