Restaurant MDE checkin and podiums

Are there any restaurants where you should check in at the podium even if you use the online check in? It was strange on our last trip at places like CRT and BOG. We were not really sure so I did both.

The only time we checked in at the podium was when our party was split into two ADRs and we wanted to let the CM know we were together so they could seat us as close as possible. Otherwise we use the MDE checkin and haven't had any problems. They text/send a push notification via MDE when our table is ready.

You can choose either. If you have any special requests or notes, use the podium for sure!

I also recommend always picking the SMS notification option for when the table is ready versus just the app push, because those get finicky sometimes!

Both work - I also recommend the SMS notification, there were times I got the app push notification 10 minutes after I was already seated at the table...

As noted, you can do either.
We checked in online at every restaurant last month and had no issues.

Op here - ate at CRT last night. Checked in online and waited for quite a bit. It was a gaggle of people and I started hearing people go up and also check in in person, even if already online. So I did and she had us immediately sit inside and wait for our name. I eventually got the text and immediately walked back outside...and someone had been calling our name. No issues anywhere so far with online other than there.
