Hello,

How does Spice Road Table compare with Restaurant Marrakesh? We ate lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh on our last visit to Epcot---loved the ambiance and liked the food (although I'm sure it was a "disneyfied" version of Moroccan fare).

I've seen a lot of people recommend Spice Road Table and wonder if we should try it next time. I will say that ambiance is probably our #1 factor when choosing a WDW restaurant since we have many fantastic restaurants (both ethnic and American) where we live.

Would love to hear more about Spice Road table---how its menu and ambiance compare to Restaurant Marakkesh. (Our next visit isn't until the winter so I'm hopeful there will be full menus and restaurant availability by then.)

Thank you!

Like both. Spice road is still more of a small plates type dining. Love the view.
Marrakesh is a wonderful restaurant if you like that type of food.
If ambience is most important then go with Spice Road.
You won't be disappointed.

Keep in mind that the third party operator for the Morocco pavilion has not left the building and Disney is running the show. So any reviews or comments prior to 2020 would need to be considered dated. I think the Spice Road change has been a welcome one by some, until Restaurant Marrakesh reopends its going to be hard to say what it's like. For us in the past it was a family favorite and it's almost always one of our must do restaurants.

To reiterate what SteveH said, it's a bit hard to compare the two as the ownership has completely changed, but we never really liked Marrakesh. I thought the food was incredibly bland and I didn't like that there weren't any windows in the restaurant. We much preferred Spice Road Table. I thought the food was better, the service was outstanding and I love the view from the restaurant.

To our surprise we loved Restaurant Marrakesh...we went on a whim once trip and it was great... We have yet to do Spice Road Table

I know Restaurant Marakesh is indoors, and felt rather cold last time we were there. But since our next trip is in the summer, feeling cold might be a welcome relief. What about Spice Table Road? Is there an indoor section, or is it all open air?

Me and the wife went to Spice Road for a light dinner last week ( So we had room for many more deserts before leaving the park).

We loved it. Like others said it's designed to be a shared small plates kind of place and it does have a great view.

Can't say I've been to Marakesh but spice road gets rave reviewes from me. The Cauliflower dish was really amazing.

Cauliflower is amazing?! I may have to have dinner or lunch at Spice Road just verify this comment alone. I didn't think it was possible for Cauliflower to be anything other than...well, Cauliflower.

Haha. It was giant spicy cauliflower that resembled giant orange chicken. I'll try to post a picture later.

I've only been to Spice Road Table. First time I had an indoor booth looking at the Epcot ball and it was fantastic. The other two times I've been outside. Loved the food. The ambience inside was nice. Outdoors was, well, I guess it's mainly for the view of the lake. Haven't been to Restaurant Marrakesh but on a recent trip I noticed part of the K from the sign had fallen off.

These restaurants were not Disney operated so they weren't "disneyfied". They used to be two of our favorite Epcot restaurants but will wait on reviews before we go back to either.

They are now owned by Disney and will be operated by them so I anticipate the quality of the food to go down and become "disneyfied".

REALLY hard to compare IMO, plus we have no idea what Marrakesh will come back as under new ownership.

My pre-COVID experiences at Marrakesh were very good; food could lean bland in comparison to more authentic restaurants outside of Disney (I expect that at all Disney spots so it doesn't bother me...) but the service, atmosphere, and entertainment was always great.

Spice Road outdoor seating is just a view of the water and people walking WS, really, and we found the chairs to be so incredibly uncomfortable. Have not dined inside. Service was good; I liked the food but my DH did not at all so it's on a the 'no' list for now.

I am hopeful Marrakesh opens again soon and we can give it a try!

I was told by a little bird who works backstage at EPCOT that when Marrakesh reopens, it is planned to be a steak house. :confused3 Not sure how that fits with the Moroccan theme, but that is Disney's plan, or at least on the table so to speak, for its new restaurant.

The same bird told me that all has been renovated inside and is complete (including those currently closed restrooms) and the individual isn't sure why Disney is sitting on its hands at this point. . .well, I think we know the answer to that $$$$.

I was quite shocked when we heard this plan because we really liked the restaurant as it was--the lamb with hot sauce (which you had to request) was terrific! I like steak, but c'mon--there are already many good steak places on property and even in Epcot.

That makes no sense especially since Japan is adding a steak house. If true then it looks like Epcot is going to be quite "disneyfied".

I certainly hope this is not true. What a disappointment if it becomes just another steakhouse! We love the atmosphere of uniquely themed Disney dining. If it becomes a generic steakhouse with a touch of Moroccan accents we will definitely pass and only visit Spice Road Table.

I'd like to say I'm totally shocked, but if this turns out to be true I won't be shocked at all. I am all for a good steak, but Disney and Steak is not what I go to Disney for. Thankfully the food we found at Marrakesh at the time can be found in our community, and a MUCH lower price.

I really hope Disney doesn't dumb it down though.

We love spice road table! Just the two of us, water view, in the evening, it’s relaxing. Especially during flower and garden when you can hear the music from the concerts just up the way and fireworks will be starting soon.

Hopefully all this will come back soon. :(

Am I correct thinking that there's something about Moroccans and not eating beef? Something to do with the common religion there? Please someone, help me dust off my brain on this, or correct me if my thinking's wrong.
