Restaurant in Epcot's Mexico

We were there a couple of weeks ago and the food was great. Also, they no longer serve Tostidos and Pace, the chips and salsa are fresh and the new margaritas from the tequila bar are excellent.

No problem! This has been my wife's favorite restaurant for quite a while, despite the Tostidos and watered-down margaritas, so we were thrilled to see the upgrades. I'm sure the chips and salsa are coming from the tequila bar.

i love this restaurant. it's atmoshere is great, and so is the food. it is really fun to watch the people on the ride go by and to wave at them. I also hear that the margaritas there are good too.

Also had a very bad experience here. We prefer Norway or France when dining at Epcot.

In my opinion:

Inside (San Angel) - one of the best atmospheres in all of Disney Dining. Beautiful, peaceful, calming, and interesting (albeit a bit dark for my taste.) Food is a 5 or a 6 on a 10 point scale. But most of Disney has just mediocre food in many cases.

Outside (Cantina) - Great location, FANTASTIC margaritas, Food is actually pretty decent for "bar-type" Mexican food (churros, nachos, etc.) BUT - the more Margaritas you drink the better the food gets!!

The atmosphere is awesome. We also loved our meals. The service was wonderful.

Ate there in September and loved it--even better was we somehow got lucky and were seated right next to the railing overlooking the water.

I really couldn't care less if their chips are bagged and the salsa jarred--it's free and it was fine. For the sake of convenience with the amount of people in the parks, I'd be surprised if the chips weren't bagged. Besides, I don't even want to load up on that kind of thing before a meal, especially in WDW, when it's really not practical to take your leftovers.

Just wanted to mention again - as of 3 weeks ago the chips and salsa are fresh. Not sure exactly when they changed, but that was when we were there.

Went to the Cava at the beginning of September with a friend who is a vegan - we thought she would be able to order the chips and salsa but she was told by the server, after checking, that the oil they were fried in contained lard so she couldn't order them. That said, I suppose it's entirely possible that they've switched to bagged chips since then, or that different chips are served in the bar and the restaurant.

I say try it. As you can probably tell you will have reviews that find it great, horrid, and everything in between. All restaurant opinions are very subjective not only to what you find appealing but to the single experience you might have had on a day.

I had a good experience at San Angel. I love the atmosphere in there. It really does feel like you are eating outside at night next to a river. I would call it the best meal I have had but it is a place I would visit again. Since Mexican food is so popular throughout the country in one form or another it is a safe option for people who are not adventurous enough to try to eat in Morocco or France.

Try it and if you enjoy it cool. If you don't at least you can say you tried it.

The restaurant used to serve Tostidos and Pace salsa, but they switched to fresh chips and salsa relatively recently. I'd bet whenever Cava opened.
