Restaurant hours based on park hours?

I would like to know how close to the park closing time I could get a dinner PS at an MK restaurant in early December, when the park will likely close at 6:00. I am guessing (please let me know the facts here) that the hours are based on the park hours. However, I believe that the time for making a PS could come up before the park hours are established. Do the Disney dining people know about hours before we do???

Someone correct me if this is wrong, but I think typically you can make a PS up to about 15 minutes before park close time. I would ask the CM when you call what time the park closes that day, then watch the Disney website for any hours changes so you can move your PS if necessary.

Depending on who I talk to I sometimes think the Dining CMs know less than we do here at the DIS!

ETA that if you would rather eat later, there are numerous very good resort restaurants only a quick monorail ride away.
