or the surrounding area.
I want to purchase a gift certificate as part of my friend's wedding gift. They are in their late 20s, and have been living in Irvine for about a year or so. I wanted to find a place that they could have a romantic night out with a good selection of food to choose from. And a online website for that place woudl really help since I would need to get in contact with the restaurant to purchase the gift certificate.
Any suggestions?

is Irving close to that place where Robert Blake shot his wife :teeth:

Well, that's a romantic thought

No where close to where Robert Blake shot his wife! :stir:

There are LOTS of places around Irvine. http://www.shopirvinespectrumcenter.com/ is a website where there are tons of restaraunts in Irvine, including Dave and Busters, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, and Yardhouse as some of the nicer ones.

There is also an Irvine Improv comedy place there.

Also located in Irvine are The Melting Pot (fondue and very romantic), Houston's, Outback Steakhouse, and Claim Jumper.

HTH!

actually the place did look kind of romantic, just dont let your date park down the street from the place

I used to live in Dana Point, Work in Mission Viejo, and used to hang out in Irvine, especially at the Spectrum. At the Irvine Spectrum, there is the Cheesecake Factory.. YUM, There's the Claim Jumper on Alton Parkway, Cuciana Romana on Alton Parkway, El Torito Mexican Restraunt (though the one in Dana Point has an Ocean View), Fuji-Khan Japanses steak house, Jade Palace Chinese, Kitima Thai, Koki Teppan and Sushi,

I googled Restraunts & Irvine, California Hopefully these suggestions will help.

Thank you. Keep those suggestions coming.
I will look into those restaurants and see if they offer gift certificates.

Most of the ones I suggested did... Claim Jumper, Bertolini's and Cheesecake Factory all do, for sure. As does El Torito!

:rotfl: Yep, stay away from Vitello's. It caters to a rough crowd. :p Although, Robert Blake was found not guilty of that. Sadly, it was only a matter of time before Mrs. Blake's her past caught up with her. Not that anyone deserves a bullet in the brain, but she was a bad, bad girl.

Back to our real topic - FOOD!

There isn't much that's romantic in Irvine. Most are family restaurants. Hush in Laguna (warm chocolate cake is a must) or Pascal in Newport (great food & impeccable service) are the 2 most romantic I can think of in Orange County. They aren't far from Irvine. There is a Ruth Chris in Irvine, if they like steak.

Thank you, I will check online for them.
Warm chocolate cake sounds yummy.
Since I am not familiar with California, knowing that those two areas are close to Irvine does help.

Ruth Chris is a really super nice steakhouse

Napa Rose is at the Disneyland Resort, about 20 minutes from Irvine depending where they are in Irvine. So is Catal.

Maggianos is about 20 minutes from Irvine as well.

It depends what your price point is and what their definition of romantic restaurant is.

The Napa Rose is a great suggestion :) It is at the Grand Californian Hotel, so they don't have to go in to Disneyland. There is also Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - we just ate there last night, and the food and atmosphere were great. Outside the Disney area another suggestion I have is the Orange County Mining Company - it sits on a hill overlooking the city: http://www.orangecountyminingco.com/

How far is Orange County from Irvine?
And what is the price range of the appetizer, entrees, and dessert for the Orange Mining Company?

It's not too far, again depending on where in Irvine they live. Click here for their website.

Thank you. I still couldn't find any prices, but the sunday brunch items sounds yummy as well. And the view :thumbsup2 .

Other suggestions if you're going out of Irvine...

Orange Hill Restaraunt in Orange. Sits above Orange Co. Mining Co. and is more upscale and romantic. Excellent food - went there for my 10 year anniversary.

Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar. Owned by Lawry's ... very traditional upscale prime rib type English place. Very delish!

Las Brisas in Laguna Beach. Overlooks ocean and serves yummy upscale Mexican food. Great Sunday Brunch as well.

Roy's in Newport Beach. From Hawaii, very very good also.

We used to live in Orange County and my all-time favorite restaurant is Cannon's in Dana Point. DH took me here for our first date and we returned many times. Now whenever we visit So. Cal, we always plan a meal at this restaurant. The food is excellent, the view is beautiful, and the atmosphere is romantic. Here's a link to their website:
