What does the coupon pay for - all food categories on the menu, drinks, taxes, tip? For instance -

If the food & drinks total $60 of a $75 coupon, can the taxes and/or tip be paid/partially paid for with the remaining $15?

If the total food & drinks total $60 & we present a $75 coupon, are the taxes & tips calculated on our bill of $60 or on the coupon of $75?

If the total food & drinks total $60 & we present a $75 coupon, do we get the remaining $15 in cash or credit for next visit or do we lose the unused $15?

When do these coupons expire?

Thanks, Julie

It is a coupon in the end not a gift card... If you look/wait for a code in most cases you will get them 70-80% off what they are asking for.. each place has restrictions listed check before you buy..
most places it will 25.00 (which you can get for 2-3) good towards 35.00 of FOOD only not drinks, tax, tips etc
inother words you have to order 35.00 in food plus drinks or you could drink water I suppose....

You can't pay the tip with the coupon. It will be charged automatically to you.

Each coupon for individual restaurants will have different rules about how much you are expected to order. The $25 coupons for House of Blues required at least a $35 purchase so there will be no coupon value left over. They also require at least two persons at the table and only one coupon per table. Some restaurants require the purchase of two entrees.

Check the rules before you buy any of these.

Definitely read the fine print, they're all different on how they can be used. Garden Grove requires two entrees, must be dinner and doesn't allow stacking. I know this because I got one for Garden Grove. :goodvibes

I believe that none of them can be stacked, so you'll never have any value left over to cover tip. I'd just make sure to read the fine print before purchase to verify this.

I was working on a reply & it disappeared. Sorry if two replies pop up. Anyway…..thank you very much for your time & info.

I now understand:
1. cannot use any other discounts with the restaurant.com coupon,
2. coupon cannot include drinks, taxes, & tips,
3. check the restrictions (found those under the coupon price; are there others someplace?),
4. no credit for unused amounts of the coupon,
5. coupons do not expire (just found that on restaurant.com)

So…….here’s what I have left!
1. If the coupon restriction is only “2 entrees” & not a specific $ amount, must we spend the total coupon $ amount? For instance, coupon is for $75 & we spend $60. Won’t we just forfeit the $15 remaining?

2. Are the tips & taxes figured on the coupon $ amount, or on the $ of actual food & drinks consumed?

Thanks again, Julie

I'm not sure about the $75 certificate question. None of Disney's restaurants offer them, so I didn't research that aspect. (All Diseny's certificates are $25) I'd check with restaurant.com and that specific restaurant to find out how that works. My guess is that yes, you'd forfeit that amount, but I don't know for sure.

Tax and gratuity are based on the amount of food consumed.

The coupons do expire one year after date of purchase, except for California. You can only use one coupon per month at an individual establishment.

I am not sure that they do expire (I also found the answer to what if the bill is $60 and my cert is for $75). The following is part of the Terms at Restaurant.com:

http://www.restaurant.com/terms.asp?pgn=x
4. Terms and Conditions for Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates
All Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates are subject to the following additional terms and conditions, as well as any conditions listed under “Special Instructions” on the certificate itself. The “Special Instructions” are listed prior to purchase on the individual Microsites and listing pages. In the event of a conflict between the terms listed in this Section, and a Special Instruction on a Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate, the Special Instruction controls. Please review both these terms and the Special Instructions prior to purchase.

  • Only one (1) Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate may be redeemed per party, per month, per restaurant, even if the party is seated at separate tables and/or receives more than one check.
  • Not valid for taxes, tips, merchandise or prior balances.
  • Cannot be combined with any other restaurant certificates, third party certificates, Restaurant.com Gift Certificates or other coupons.
  • Valid for dine-in only unless otherwise stated.
The redemption of a Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate requires additional consideration paid to the restaurant. Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates have no value without additional consideration. Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates are redeemable in their entirety only and may not be redeemed incrementally. Neither Restaurant.com nor the restaurant is responsible for lost or stolen Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates or Certificate Numbers. The restaurant is solely responsible for complying with all state and local laws pertaining to the distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages. Unauthorized reproduction, resale, modification, or trade of this Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificate is prohibited. Any attempted redemption that violates these Terms & Conditions may render this Certificate void.

The restaurant is the holder and issuer of this Restaurant Gift Certificate. As the holder and issuer of this Restaurant Gift Certificate, the restaurant is responsible for the final disbursement of this discount. Whether you choose to use this Restaurant Gift Certificate after acquiring the right to access it to get a reduction in the price of your meal at the participating restaurant is at your sole discretion.

This Restaurant Gift Certificate does not expire.

Hmmm, but Tricia1972, how do you interpret - "Restaurant-Specific Gift Certificates are redeemable in their entirety only and may not be redeemed incrementally."?

Interpret as -
1. Even though the coupon holder does not spend the entire $75 (my example) on food, he/she must forfeit the entire coupon. In other words, he/she does not get any 'credit' or 'cash' back for the remaining $15 (my example), resulting in $0 due for the food? Or,

2. must spend the full amount of the coupon ($75) for food or the coupon cannot be used ("Certificates are redeemable in their entirety only and may not be redeemed incrementally")?

Seems to me that #1 makes more sense, but then I have never used any of these. I also have not read any posts on these boards by anyone who has spent less than the coupon value. Maybe someone has first-hand knowledge of this. Appears it would be in the restaurant's best interest to accept a $75 coupon for a $60 food bill.

Thanks again for responses.
Julie

These GC all have conditions and are not just face value. The ones I see (and have used) were $25 off 2 entrees and some have been $25 off $35

I have never seen a straight $75 GC.

Do you have a specific example of thid $75 off?:confused3 I just don't see your scenario of a $75 gc and only using $60 of it. There has to be a second part - ie $75 off $150 for example

Here is what I was looking at - The Outback Restaurant (Palace Hotel); $75 coupon; minimum 2 entrees, 20% gratuity, 1 cert per party. No minimum $ purchase requirement.

But, guess what! I did not move the dot to the $75 line - it has $150 purchase requirement!

Problem solved.

Thanks, Julie
