Restaurant.com - 80% Off

Has anyone else noticed that, in my area anyway, certain restaurants you can't use the discount codes anymore??

For those who have used restaurant.com before, what's the catch? If you get a $75 card that's $30 then $6 after the promo code, do the restaurants take them without a hassle? I see some places have a min. amount to purchase and that they tack on 18% gratuity before the discount. Does that mean that if you're a party of 2 that wants to use the discount your bill will come with the gratuity already in? (The 18% doesn't bother me since I give 20% with great service regardless of the number of our party.) I'm just wanting to make sure I understand how the whole thing works, if it's a hassle and if I can find some of our local restaurants on there. TIA

I've used these and they do work. Infact, with a no expiration date I had one that is no longer good on the website still left. I called and they credited my account with a $25 gift certificate to replace the one that is no longer good with them. You do have to read all the rules and you do have to comply. Some examples are good for dinner only, not good on meal specials or alcholic drinks, or not good for take out. One biggie is that usually you can only use one certificate at a time per month. Also, multiple certificates will not be honored at the same table or even different tables if you are talking with one another, etc. Just be careful and follow the rules. Try it once and see how it goes. Some certificates sell out at more popular places. There's like a limited amount of these certificates per place per month.

:thumbsup2 Perfect, that's what I needed to know. I'm not surprised about the one discount per table thing. If they didn't do that, I can see some folks coming in with 5 cards and wanting cash back from their visit:rotfl: (kind of like the extreme couponing thing!) I'll give a try if I see somewhere that works in our area. Our sushi place, of course, has a min. $200 purchase :(

I tried to buy on 2 different computers- neither page would work at checkout...:confused3

Thank you for posting this, I just ordered $40 worth of certificates for $8 and there is no expiration date.

We just used 1 at House of Blues Orlando/DTD on April 8 with no issue. The food was exceptional and so was the service. We are hoping to go back in Dec for our 10th Anniversary, so I bought 2 more certificates, as well as 1 to Shula's which is in the Swan or Dolphin resort and I also found 1 in Birmingham, AL, so I can try them out before we go to the one in Orlando.

If you collect My Coke Rewards, you can use 300 points for a $25 gift certificate (they did have a $50 for 600 points) to Restaurant.com and get a certificate free, that is how I got my first House of Blues certificate.
