Restaraunt Recommendations?

We will be in San Francisco a couple of days with kids doing the city pass, waterfront, down town, Exploritorium & Academy of Sciences. Any great local places we should try?

As well, Monterey & Solvang?

By the Exploratorium, anything in the Ferry Building is usually good.

If you can time it so you are in the Monterey area around breakfast / brunch time, Katy's Place in Carmel is awesome. The best eggs Benedict I've ever had.

Pier 23 by the Exploratorium was one of our favorites when we were there a couple weeks ago. We found we could make a reservation with Open Table for Pier 23 a couple minutes before we arrived to shorten the wait for a table.

If you're in Sausalito, Fred's is a good breakfast and lunch place. The Cannery Row Brew Pub in Monterey was also popular with our family.

Shalimar. Indo-Pak with two locations in San Francisco. Neighborhood not great for Jones St location, and marginally better for Polk St location.

I don't know how to describe it other than a dive. But really, really good if you're into this kind of food. If you're especially adventurous, try the lamb brain masala. You might also want to wash your clothes afterwards.

Yelp reviews are polarizing. It gets 4 stars, but a lot of poor ratings because of the ambiance. Even some of the two or three star ratings praise the food.

Monterey..... if you like clam chowder go to the wharf. I like crown and anchor, Archies American diner, Beach House at lovers point....then the next little town over in Pacific grove we like Peppers Mexicali and Redhouse Cafe.

Also they have a Bubba Gumps in Monterey and the food is okay atmosphere is pretty good. Usually has a wait. They also have a Ghiradellis ice cream shop on cannery row.
