Rest Day at Disney World Suggestions

My friends and I are planning a week-long trip to Disney World and are staying at the Polynesian Resort in December. While we are organizing our plans for fastpass and dining for the parks, we would be happy to receive tips on what to do on our non-park day. We are all young adults around the age of 20. We don't want to break the bank, but wouldn't mind spending some dough if a place is really worth it. Please give us any suggestions that you have might have or recommend!

Also, is going to Disney Springs more worthwhile in the noontime or the evening?

Disney Springs night time scene might be more exciting for your group - The Edison, Raglan Road come to mind as places with more of an adult vibe in the evening.

The Boardwalk area also has JellyRolls which is fun - or at least it was the last time I was there!

Visit AK lodge in the daytime to see animals - maybe catch lunch at Saana?

There are also lots of "crawls" that people do - using monorail, etc.

I think Disney Springs is an any time of day place. Not sure if this is still true but if you go early the "hot air balloon" is like half price before 10:00.

You could resort hop, explore the Boardwalk, hang at the pool, mini golf or take an Uber to one of the Outlet malls.

If you're 21+, JellyRolls is a really fun dueling piano bar at the Boardwalk! I highly recommend it, though you'd want to be there as soon as it opens, as the crowds can get rough.

I love Disney Springs, particularly in the mid-morning/afternoon when it isn't as crowded. There are a lot of stores and great restaurants, a lot of interesting things to do and see. Splitsville might be fun for your group.

During the day, renting a pontoon boat is really nice and relaxing. If you pool your money collectively, renting a fireworks cruise at Magic Kingdom or Epcot will run you around $400. If you're of drinking age....Jellyrolls can be fun, but it's drinks only and popcorn with a $15 cover charge. I've also taken the resort monorail around and had a drink (or two) at each resort.

Since you will be there in December, I would go resort hopping to check out the Christmas decorations. Some of them are really quite amazing!
In regards to Disney Springs, I would recommend going in the evening for your group. There will be Christmas decorations up there to check out. They also usually have "street performers" at night in various places throughout DS. They are usually pretty good to watch.
If anyone in your group is a horse lover, you might want to head over to the Tri-Circle D ranch over at Ft Wilderness.

A couple of more that people typically do not mention...

At Animal Kingdom Lodge, they have a free culinary tour there, or if you go to Sanaa (restaurant that looks out at the Savannah where the animals are) the bread service is highly recommended.

At night perhaps take a bus, or boat (depending on where you end up during the day) to Fort Wilderness to see the decorations at the different camp sites. They go all out! You can take a bus to the different loops since you're not a camper and walk the loop itself to check out all the decorations. You can ask online ahead of time, or ask cast members once you're there what the best loops are for decorations.

We always do 7 days sat-sat. With tuesday as our off day. We get 5 day base tickets. We do the pool and DS at night.

In December I would resort hop and check out the decorations. The monorail escorts are beautifully decorated and if you time it right, you can stop in at the Grand after 3 PM. The GRand Pianist is in the Lobby, followed by the Grand Orchestra. The boat ride to Wilderness Lodge is lovely, and that resort is stunning. I also think a trip to Animal Kingdom Lodge is worth the time.

The Epcot resorts are fabulous as well. We love strolling from one to the next.

Disney Springs is a lovely vist, with restaurants galore. The decorations are lovely and there is a Christmas TRree Trail.

I also would suggest just getting tickets for your length of stay. Add in days on is not that expensive and if you chose to relax at the resort during the day, or sightsee, you could still head to a pak in the evening for entertainment. There is a lot to do and frankly the parks tickets offer a way to avoid spending more money looking for things to do. We love just having dinner and watching fireworks.
