Ressies Prior to Use year

I am considering ....

The dbl-developer pts have a 12mnth use and a 7mnth ressie, so if I made a ressie with a UY of Feb, for june 2008, at 11 months out needing my '08 points to make the ressie, could I then change the points that they use to the dev pts and bank my '08 pts to '09?

ressi for June '08 needs 400pts
Use banked '07 and reg '08 UY pts to make ressi at 11mnths
then switch to dev pts prior to check in and bank '08 pts to '09 there by "saving my '08 pts"

Also does a reservation need to be made with pts in the bank or, if the ressi falls after the UY is that allowed w/o borrowing?

ressi for 7/09 (UY June) no points when ressi made, but knowing that ressi happens AFTER June UY points will be available w/o borrowing

My question exactly. I would be looking to do the same thing for a June 2008 reservation. I have seen posts of people that were able to apply developer points to existing reservations - so really no different than this situation with the exception of deliberately deciding to do it.

If you have a Feb use year and want to make a reservation for June 2008, you can call now and make that ressie using Feb 2008 issued points and there would be no banking of points needed to do that. If you have Feb 2007 issued points, which expire Jan 31, 2008, you could bank those into the 2008 use year and use them for that June 2008 trip. If you were to cancel that ressie more than 30 days before arrival you could then bank into the 2009 use year any of the 2008 points that were in the reservation.

As to whether you can later change points used in the ressie from regular points to developer points, I do not know the answer. You may have to cancel the ressie you have and try to rebook -- and there is no guarantee you will actually get the rebooking even though you may attempt the cancellation and rebooking at almost the same time.
