Ressies and Credit Card ???'s

I was just wondering what happens when you make a reservation (for dining, and the Pirate Cruise, etc). Do they take your credit card number and just hold the spot, do they charge a reservation fee (or take any money from you then and there), what happens if you have to cancel, etc....

For general dining, if they get a credit card number from you, you are not charged unless you don't show up without canceling before a certain time. They generally don't use a credit card except for high attendance days or for some of the more popular dinners.

I don't know what the policy is for the dinner shows though.

We are on DP and I was asked for CC number for our ressies for Lua. I asked if I would be charged and I assured that there would be no charge its only to hold our place for the dinner. This was a month ago and so far no charges showed up on that card.
