Hey guys I desperately need some advise!

I've got a package booked for 12/20 through 29. Shortly after I booked my package I was in a car wreck and out of work for about 6 weeks. So deadline (45 days) is tomorrow and I haven't paid my trip off.

I have a settlement coming from the insurance company - so I'm not worred as long as I can hang on to my room. So today I called intending to change my ressie to room only. I knew it was going to mean a bump in price since I initially booked with a pin code, but it's worth it to hang on to the room.

But the cast member told me not to do it. That I'd lose my discount. According to him they'll send out a letter telling me that my payment is past due and giving me a new deadline. According to him, I'll have probably an extra 10 days. which should give me time to either get my settlement or finish earning it.

But I've never heard of them doing that. In fact, a friend had her trip automatically cancelled at the 45 day point. I'm just a wreck, I don't know what to do. Within a few weeks money will not be an issue. But I'd rather not pay the extra $500 if I don't have to.

Has anyone dealt with this? SHould I just bite the bullet and convert to room only - just to ensure I don't lose the room? Or is there really a "grace period?" Heck at this point if there's a way a TA can take this over I'd be thrilled.

I"ve already got my plane tickets so changing my dates really isn't an option.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I would call back and ask another CM and see if you get the same answer, or ask to be directed to guest services and ask them after explaining your situation. I'm sure that they will work something out for you but I would want to get some type of assurance other than from one CM. It was always my impression that they will cancel it unless you make alternate arrangements with them.

yes, i have heard of this. if you can make a small payment, it shows good faith. i am very surprised to hear someone's reservation was automatically cancelled at the 45 day mark. i have known some to be a day or two late without problem, and others to recieve a reminder.
write down the name of the cm you spoke to and the date and what they told you in case you run into any problems.

I made a reservation, then our plans changed due to work issues. I thought I'd canceled the reservation, and was shocked when I got a letter about it! They gave me a new deadline.

So, you should be all right. Just be aware that if you have to cancel, you will lose your deposit. Money is the one area where they will not bend the rules, like they do with everything else.

I completely forgot about the 45 day mark for our trip last year & was sent a reminder notice with a new payment due date. I think you'll be fine! When you get the letter, just call and make sure you're ressie's still secure.

If I was expecting an insurance settlement soon and I had a big payment due for something I really wanted I would make the payment on a credit card and pay off the card when the settlement comes.
You don't mention if you have a credit card or not but that's what I would do.

I hope you keep your room and have a good trip to Disney. Are you feeling better? Good luck.:cheer2:

Yay Me! I just got off the phone with Disney/guest services. They assured me that they could work with me and wouldn't cancel my ressie at the stroke of midnight. Apparently they used to do that but not anymore.

Thank you so much everyone for your great advice and and assurances! I was just sort of freaked out last night by the possibility of losing this vacation. I've been looking forward to it for so long and honestly, it's what got me through all those weeks of being in pain.

THank you!!
