I talked with MS on Saturday and was told that the only DVC property with a Concierge Level option is AKV. Is that correct? I was hoping to book a 1 bedroom at Boardwalk on CL, but maybe not?

Thanks!

That is correct. They others have Concierge Desks, but not accommodations.

You can use points to book non-DVC resorts with concierge - GF, Polynesian, Contemporary and YC. But not BWI, not BC, not WL. And you will pay the $95 booking fee for that non-DVC reservation. Plus it will use up a lot of points.

If you've read about DVC members staying in Concierge at non DVC resorts, it's b/c "occassionally" DVC members get upgraded to Concierge while staying at non-DVC resorts. We were upgraded once to Concierge at GF & once to a room w/ the larger balcony at AKL before it became a DVC.

The concierge manager told me they would rather upgrade a DVC member b/c they had a better chance of renting the cheapest room which I had booked at GF than renting the Concierge room at the last minute. We were also only staying for 2 nights.

It is A LOT of points to stay concierge at a non-DVC resort--especially on a weekend. If you have an AP & there are discounts it's usually a better deal. You can also try other discounts through CRO such as AAA. The new $95 fee really makes it expensive on top of using a lot of points.

Good luck! Concierge is a fun splurge.

When we stayed at the CR on points, we asked at the front desk about staying in the same room that we booked for cash. We were told no because DVC stays on points are never upgraded. You get what you booked.

I guess we got lucky on both of our upgrades. They upgraded us & we were there on points both times we were upgraded.
