I was wondering if anyone knew of a good resort in Disney with activites for kids to do during the day. I have a 9 year old and a 16 year old but the 16 year old has friends in Orlando. We are looking for a kids program for the 9 year old to do during the days not at Disney. Please help!

I know the AKL ran programs all day long for kids - I cannot remember the target age group however. Perhaps someone else can help you there. This is not a "drop-off" program however - you'd need to stay near your child I think. Are you looking to enroll the 9 year old in some program where he would go by himself (like daycare)?

I think that most of the delux resorts have some activities for children during the day but as Selket said, they are not places to leave your son. WL, has an art and craft time and pool games and a duck parade during the day. They, like many other resorts have a kids club that opens around 4:00. There are some kid's activities that kids do alone but cost extra. The only ones that might apeal to a 9 year old boy might be the pirate's cruse or the cooking adventure. Both I think at the GF. If you want to do some specail things with your son on non park days check out FW camp ground, disney quest at DD or the sports complex. Too much to do and too little time!!!!

The Polynesian has good childrens activities if you are a guest of the resort. They have a scheduled that is printed in the island times which you get upon check in. They have pool games, arts and crafts in the neverland lounge I think that is like from 12-4 each day but a parents must accompany the child. My 3ds like the arcade challenge. Its from like 3-4 p.m. 2 days a week. You would have to miss the MK parade for that one. They also have hula lessons, torch lighting at 6 p.m.
If you are looking for something for him to do alone, the other poster suggested the pirate cruise and I would also suggest the kids fishing trip. My 3 ds love this. Its like $20 and it leaves from the dock. They did it at the Boardwalk. I cant remember the other pick up places. They also got free drinks. The only thing they did not like was having to wear life vests since they are excellent swimmers, but disney policy for safety reasons. They still talk about it and how the captain used hot dog for bait. This was well worth the money for us. They also have trail rides at Fort Wilderness. Our ds thought this was lame and boring. The horses cannot gallop etc. They are trained to walk comatose like and ever SOOOOOO slowly. But if that interests him, then you might want to consider it. I cant remember the age requirement off hand. You also have the option of having a helmet for safety and reservations are required for both the fishing trip and horseback ride.

Thank you for the help for the kids activites! You answered all my questions. It was for my child when I was on resort property with her.

Thanks Again,
