We are planning a trip in September and as with any trip planning we have a list of questions. We still are not sure whether to do a value, moderate, or deluxe. But if you had to choose based on the transportation at each level which would you pick? Which Value, which moderate, or which deluxe based on transportation! TIA! :cool1:

I'm sure you'll get a lot of varying opinions on this one. Some refuse to use Disney busses and drive their own car. You will also have different results based on the crowd level the week you go.

My opinion only based on the fact that I have not stayed in a deluxe is...
The value resorts are always packed mainly because it is the family resort so you get most people thinking I'm only staying in the room to sleep and the kids love the value themes. First thing in the morning we usually had to wait for the second or third bus to go to the park at opening from the value resorts.

From a moderate resort at a similar crowd level we always got the first bus.
Also the bus stop was covered so we didn't have to stand in the hot sun.

Deluxe resorts like Poly, GF and Contemporary are right on the Monorail so you have quick access to transportation.
The camp ground and WL use a boat to get to MK which is a pretty short ride and kind of dramatic to come up to the MK park from the water.

We always use the Disney transportation. I am always uptight about how long the bus takes in the morning to get to the park. My opinion is if I have to wait more than one bus then there should be more busses.:lmao:

Value: POP. (It never shares buses)
Moderate: POFQ (It only has one bus stop)
Deluxe: Poly (can walk to TTC for fast Epcot trip)

Deluxe honorable mention: Boardwalk---can walk to either EP or DS.

But, my personal preference is to rent a car, and drive it nearly everywhere.

'Best' transportation pretty much depends on what you mean. If you are going to spend a lot of your time at MK, then a monorail resort is going to be best for you.
If you love Epcot and plan to spend much time there, then an Epcot resort is going to be best.
The resorts all have good points as well as bad points.
Here would be my choices for resorts with good transportation, by type...
Value...Pop
Moderate..POFQ (only one stop there but many times shares a route with POR which has 4 stops)
Deluxe...CR (yes, it shares with other resorts, but you can walk to MK, a short monorail ride to TTC and the Epcot monorail)

But, be aware...once you have a resort with 'other' types of transportation, their bus transportation suffers. For instance...the Polynesian has boat and monorail transport to MK (also monorail to Epcot), but their bus service to DHS and AK as well as DTD is horrific.
BW?? Great walking to Epcot and DHS, but you have to share the buses to MK, AK and DTD with the S/D and sometimes YC/BC.
As you can see..no one resort has perfect transportation!!

I agree with the PP that you will get varying postings on resort transportation.

To me, it isn't a real vacation unless you don't have to worry about picking up a rental car, getting gas, parking, etc. I love the ease of letting someone else do the driving.

You will find different levels of easy tranportation, depending on what time of year you go. If it is a very busy time of year, like any holiday, or say right after an event, such as EMH's or Illuminations, there are more buses, but a ton of people wanting to get back to the resort all at one time.

Values tend to be a lot more crowded on the buses because more families are trying to save money, like not renting a car. The mods are fairly good, although POR can get packed, if they pick up POFQ first. If you go with POR or POFQ, you have the extra added transportation of the water taxi to DTD, which also has a transfer station to all of the resorts.

On the deluxes, it depends on whether you stay on the monorail loop, like CR, Poly, and GF where you can hop on the monorail to MK, or to TTC to transfer to Epcot.

At BC/YC/BW/Swan/Dolphin, you also have the extra added ferry boats to Epcot and DHS, as well as being able to walk over to Epcot.

It is all a matter of taste.
