I thought if you had a resort reservation, you were basically guaranteed to be able to get a park reservation, like maybe Disney reserved park reservations for resort guests. But recently I’ve read that wasn’t the case. Someone had a resort reservation & went to make a park reservation, but there were none (this was all told like thru the 3rd or 4th parties). I’m concerned because we have APs, but our APs expires in June, we have resort reservations for September. I called to try & renew our APs early, but was told nope, they couldn’t do it, which is silly really. I mean they can see we’re going back, TAKE MY MONEY! 😆 Realistically, I know I probably shouldn’t have an issue getting park reservations for Sept when they allow us to renew in April, however, there’s still that fear. So I guess what I’m asking is, has anyone staying at a Disney resort NOT been able to get park passes for their trip?

If the parks are not at capacity for the dates of your stay you are able to purchase tickets. The problems are arising when people purchase tickets but delay booking park reservations. A resort registration does not guarantee entrance to the parks. Park registrations are separate.

It is recommended you book your park reservations as early as possible to ensure you can get them.

Try calling again. Folks have definitely reported renewing early so they could make park reservations.

Nothing guarantees a park reservation when it is busy - not onsite, not APs, not an ADR, not even having a ticket. So the sooner you make your reservations the better.

There is no real advantage to being an onsite guest when it comes to park passes. In fact, if you look at the buckets now, APs have availability at some parks next week and but on-site resort guests have none.

Yes this is true but that is because only Platinum APs can book next week. It is a block out week for all other APs

I am an AP with a trip booked next week on site. I was not able to get a HS reservation out of the "onsite" bucket. I modified my hotel reservation, reserved my park pass out of the "passholder" bucket, and then modified my hotel reservation back to the original reservation. I realize I was taking a risk with my hotel reservation doing it this way. I have heard people can call if they have AP availability and not resort guest availability. I, too, have heard of people being able to renew their passes early to ensure park reservations. Good luck.

when they allow us to renew in April
Sorry, I initially read this as "August" instead of "April" -- you probably will be fine waiting until next month to renew and then book your park reservations. In fact, since you have to call and then receive a call back to renew early, it could be about that time anyway.
