has anyone gone or heard about anyone that went to the resorts on their own and how did they do it and how did it go?

Good question. I'm curious too, since the reports of jellyfish/eggs in the water may make us change our plans. We're booked for Stone Island right now, but waiting to hear the latest on water conditions.

We went to the El Cid hotel. We just took a cab each way (I think $15 plus tip). When we got there, the time share people tried to rope us into the presentation, but I told them I heard you could use the pool if you pay for drinks and snacks. They were happy to let us use the pool this way. It was a lot of fun.
