A young friend of mine is going to WDW in April with 4 other girls, high school seniors. What resort would accomodate 5,without going into the deluxes? I saw that PO offers some rooms that sleep 5. Do they charge more for these rooms? What bed is available for the 5th person? ::MinnieMo

The POR rooms that allow 5 would not work because the beds are small (they slide under the double bed so are shorter than a regular bed. Disney says they are for children up to about age 9yo, but of course that depends on the size of the child.

I would suggest that they rent 2 connecting value rooms. Five girls and one bathroom would be tight, afterall. Two values would give 4 double beds, two bathrooms, and 2 tv's.

POR has a trundle bed for a 5th person in the AB section, but it is small (about 5') and it lies low to the floor and wouldn't recommend this unless for a child about 10 or 11. An adult could sleep on it, but it wouldn't be very comfortable and I don't know if they would let them since they are all older. They charge $15 extra per night for the 5th person with the trundle, but I read on these boards that there is talk of discontinuing this charge as the trundle beds are in all of the rooms in AB. Also I think you have to be 18 to stay in a room, and if more than 2 are 18, they will charge an additional $15 for each adult.

They could get 2 rooms at the value if they can get a good discount and this way they would have 2 bathrooms. With 5 girls in a room, I can imagine it would take forever to get ready with only 1 bathroom. We have 2 teenage girls, and it drives me nuts on how long they take to get ready. The other option is a cabin in FW. They sleep 6 but unfortunately, there is only 1 bathroom.

We did stay at POR last summer in MB and was able to get a rollaway for a 5th person (my DD's friend). The room was a little tight but it did work out better than the trundle. However, you can't request this through CRO. I had to book the trundle bed and then request MB with a rollaway at check in. I really wanted to stay in MB because we had always stayed in AB and the CM switched us.

Some of the POR rooms have two double beds with a trundle bed that pulls out from one of the beds. This resort allows 4 adults in the room. I'm not sure they will allow a 5th adult, but if they do, I am sure they will definitely charge for it. So, 5 teenage girls are sharing one bathroom? WOW!

At POR they have a trundle bed that pulls out from under one of the other beds in the room so that you can sleep 5 in the room. It is approximately twin size. Here's a link to Allears.net with a picture:

Thanks for all the replies.....I know 5 teenage girls and 1 bathroom does sound like a nightmare to me.....I am just providing information for them. And thanks for the photo of the trundle bed. One of the girls is barely 5 ft tall and very petite, she would actually fit well on that little bed. Once they paid all the extra fees for the additional adults in the room they could have 2 rooms at a value plus the 2nd bathroom. I just want to cover all their options. ::MinnieMo

The Fort Wilderness Cabin sleeps 6. There is still a single bathroom, but it does have a full kitchen. They might make up the cost difference with being able to prepare breakfasts in the full size kitchen. All the girls could sleep in the bedroom, which would also give more privacy and be easier on the bathroom situation since no one would have to lock themselves in there to change clothes. For teenage girls, there is also an area in the bedroom with a mirror for getting ready in the mornings, again saving bathroom time.

The bed outside the bedroom is a double Murphy Bed which opens into the living room at night. The cabins come with full housekeeping services, have a dishwasher, a barbeque grill on the patio, and a dining table for 6.

My suggestions:

--2 rooms at a value or moderate, which would give you 2 bathrooms & plenty of room.

--FW cabin gives you 1 bath but a full kitchen & outdoor deck

--rent points from a DVC member for a 2BR unit, which is like a condo - 2 baths, full kitchen & a lot of space. This is probably your most expensive route

If you want least expensive then I'd say 2 rooms at a value.

I wouldn't go with one room at POR or POFQ - just not enough room for 5 girls.

Good luck with your decision.

MELSMICE, thanks for listing the options so clearly. I am a DVC member and in fact stayed in a 2 bedroom with 7 (!!!) women celebrating a 50th birthday!! I agree it would be ideal for them.It would be very pricey for the whole week but if they stayed the first 2 nights in 2 value rooms and then spent the Sun/Thurs in a 2 bedroom it would actually not be too bad. ::MinnieMo

My suggestion would be Pop Century with 2 rooms. That way there are 2 showers, 2 toilets and 2 sinks.

Your other option would be a cabin at Fort Wilderness that sleeps 6.

Or, if you are a DVC member, or could rent points, do the w/e at Pop Century and Sunday through Thursday at DVC. They would probably LOVE that!!!

Good luck with your choices, and hope they have a great time!

A friend of mine wanted to send her daughter and 3 friends to Disney as a hs graduation gift and she discovered that it was a problem in that her daughter was not 18 at the time. I think her oldest daughter ended up going as well because she was 21. Not all seniors are 18 which is something to keep in mind. Also, rental cars would also be a problem but the new shuttle system sounds like a great choice anyway. Just FYI.
