Okay here is a more complicated question for ya all.
Being my friend whom I am traveling with can get a 10-20% discount on resorts through DC we are debating which resort to stay at. So far we have been thinking if we stay at a value resort or a moderate we could stay for 4 nights, any higher and we could only stay for 3. Being we have a discount should se still go with a value or moderate resort and have it really cheap or should we get a Higher level resort for the amount of the moderate? Did that make any sense at all? I hope so, good thing we have a while before we are going to book.

Sounds like you are well on your way to drive yourself crazy - like I do!

I am not sure when you are planning your trip but some thoughts I have are:

Which park would you like to be near?
Will you be spending most of your time in parks? (if so, go cheap)

How many of you will there be?
Food costs are a consideration, should you consider Fort Wilderness Homes for less than 200 a night but save on meal costs?

Do you love Epcot? Would you like to buy an entertainment book and stay at the Swan/Dolphin for 155/night?

Would the price of the hotels reduce enough to make buying an annual pass for one in your party?

Good luck with your planning! I say go with a moderate but that's just my two cents!

If there are only two of you and you plan to spend a lot of time at the parks, I would try to get the Movies and request Toy Story or Dalamations to be near the buses, food court (it's excellent), and main pool. The main differences between the mods and value is -room size, room amenities (no coffee maker, hairdryer , etc in values), no slide at the pool, no hot tub, no sit-down rest. WE stayed at ASMo in Jan and had a blast. It's wonderfully themed and was just plain fun! The pool was great (and the pool bar), the food court was very convenient . I went down there at 6:30 am and got breakfast for everyone and brought if back to the room. At night you can get cheese, fruit, wine and bring it back to the room. I found it to be very laid back and relaxing. Our mousekeeper did cute things with our towels and stuffed animals. The store there was great and the CM's were wonderful. It was just a fun place! I haven't stayed at a Disney mod yet (CBR in May!), but I'm looking forward to the water mice, hammocks, pool slide (for DS), etc. I think you guys need to make a pro/con list and see what things are most important to each of you!

We usually find that a Moderate is the best value for our family of 4 (2 small kids). We find them to be a good compromise; beautiful resort at a reasonable price.

However, we visit WDW pretty often (1-2x a year), so we're happy to give up some of the great features of the deluxes in order to make more frequent or longer visits; we don't look at it as a once-in-a-lifetime visit.

One thing we often do, even on shorter visits like you are describing, is to split the stay between resorts. Last Nov. we stayed 6 nights in All-Stars, then two in WL, then 4 in AKL. That way we got to stay cheap on the days we were spending most of our time in the parks anyways, and then spent some "resort time" at the nicer places when we were ready to relax. Disney will take care of transferring your bags between resorts, and the move is pretty easy for us!

If you are hoping to use a Disney Club discount, I would suggest making the toll-free call and finding out which resorts are available and for how much during the time you want to visit; availability may make your decision for you ;).

Best of luck, and have a great trip!

The more days at Disney the better! If you can stay longer by staying at a Value vs a Mod than stay at a value resort. They are a wonderful deal for the money and nice resorts. If you can swing a Moderate and want the additional amenities than go for a Mod vs a deluxe if a deluxe means you will have less time at WDW. If you are not going to be spending a lot of time at your resort, I would stay at a value resort and stay for as many days as possible!

I agree with DeeP...stay as long as you can. You can't go wrong with a Disney resort, really; they're all fun! I would recommend having dinner or at least visiting a few of the other resorts, too...the resorts are almost as much an attraction (to me, at least) as the parks:) Have fun!
