Resortoholic - I need help!

After my honeymoon in Sept. 2002, I began to plan our next trip as soon as we got home. I convinced DH we needed to go again in Oct. 2003 and we did. When we came home I promised our next trip would be in November 2005. After some thought, I convinced DH we need to celebrate my 30th b-day in Disney. Our trip has now moved up to April 2005.
Just two weeks ago my sisters and I planned a trip for June of this year. DH doesn't mind because he knows I love Disney and he'd much rather be home than in Orlando in June.
:earsgirl:

My DH actually loves the fact that I am an obsessive planner. He realizes that he has enjoyed some terrific vacations due to my planning. All he has to do is show up (and bring $$$$$). I find that I actually plan everything this obsessively- I usually have a Christmas list started shortly after school starts in the fall, and I am already reading up for next years trip to Europe.

I was being very very good by not really planning my next trip to WDW and driving everyone crazy with my plans when I fell off the wagon just this morning - Have some flight vouchers and have been trying to decide where to use them - Did WDW in Oct and Dec this past year so thought okay there must be somewhere else to go - Started researching Las Vegas, HIlton Head , California and in between kept checking the schedules to you know where- As of noon we leave on April 12 and return on the 16th - Don't have a room but do have a car and since we are flying into Jacksonville and out of Orlando need to do some quick planning to find a place to stay. This is the first trip for just me and DH since 1997 so though it will be short if will also be great not having to juggle all the kids and grandchildren's itineraries. -- Ours is to take it as it comes and do what strikes us that day - I think that will include checking out the non park things and various resorts we haven't stayed at (kind of like day trips) and just relaxing -- Then I can start on the plans for late 2004 and 2005 - after all there are DVC points to use and that takes planning.

Xmas list started in Sept? Oh no. I am usually shpped up by Sept (better deals and all). I was thinking "gee, why does she put stuff off until the last month or two like that?" Maybe I am the obsessive überplanner:eek: .
and I thought it was just DVCers like me. It's good to know that I'm in good company

Hello my name is Michelle and I am a Disneyaholic, Disney Geek, Disney Weirdo, Disney nut and any other name you can come up with for our obsession. I dont have a notebook (but think I might get one) I have a folder that I keep all my info in. I also have Walt Disney World With Kids, The Unofficial, The Official and a Cruise Passporter in various spots in my home and car. I too have a DH who just kind of rolls his eyes:rolleyes: and puts up with me. I live about 2 hours south of Disney so I usually go about once a month (except summers - we head north). Its comforting to know that I am not alone. When my DH is about to bodily throw me out of this house if I say the D word one more time I just get on the Disboards. Thank you! Thank you! - for always being here to share our love of Disney.

Amen, sister!! When I'm not falling asleep with my books on the bed, this is the exact scenario!!:teeth:

leighe. my DH said they are not on "Omg my wife is obssesed with WDW" they all meet over at the Consumer Credit Counseling webpage talking about the money that goes out the house to WDW!!! LOL

Does part of being a "Resortaholic"/"WDWaholic" mean that you obsessively second guess and change your mind about your resort choice? If so, then that's me.

We are thrilled to have gotten our AAA rate for RPC (and are holding out hope for AP rates for Dec.) BUT my brother in law popped by today. This is significant b/c we told him about our upcoming trip and HE told us about their trip 3 years ago to BC. We are certain we want to be on the monorail with two toddlers but he said that it's just as easy to get around at BC/YC. He also said it's "easy" to take the monorail to MK. I can't see how that's true. Maybe I'm wrong, but is it really that easy to walk through World Showcase to catch the monorail? Anyway, I think we should stick with GF with our toddlers but DH said maybe we should at least look into BC/YC. I am just SO thrilled to try the deluxe concierge room at GF! I don't want to give that up, right? Okay, I'm rambling now...any thoughts?

Your little animated self in your signature - and the way she dances - is an absolute RIOT! When I saw her shamrock skirt I almost wet my pants!
Plus I LOVE your Concierge or Bust attitude.
As a fellow princess, I salute you:teeth: princess:

 That is sooooo true! This thread is great!

WoodysRoundup - Oh I would never give up RPC at GF. We've never stayed there before but that is my dream resort! In fact, wanting to stay there so badly is what caused me to start making my original list of trips. We are currently building a house and I'm thinking about going to law school and I'd like to have a baby in the next 2 or 3 years, so the GF isn't really an option for us right now. I was trying to plan out our whole lives for the next ten years just so I could set a date for the GF!:p Somehow that gives my world some kind of order. And yes, I spend hours agonizing over my resort choice and changing ressies even though I've loved everywhere I've ever stayed at WDW! Knowing you want to stay at YC/BC will just give you another excuse to go back!

Leighe...thanks for your reply. You have convinced me to stay. I was having a momentary bout of insanity - thinking of giving up RPC this trip. You are right! I'll just add YC/BC to my notebook (along with WL,BWI,Swan/Dolphin - we qualify for a discounted rate there- POFQ...the list goes on and on)! I AM afraid that after RPC, we'll never be able to book another WDW trip without concierge!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This splurge at RPC is definitely a one time shot for us! We have 2 toddlers and are at GF for monorail convenience and DH actually really wanted the CL thing! We've stayed on a concierge floor at CR and Disneyland hotel and he thought it was very convenient. We did some improvements to our home and didn't spend our whole budget so we're using it for our trip. After this year, the RPC probably won't be happening again for us for a very long time! You are absolutely right - with houses and school and kids it's just SO hard to afford the prices! Good luck with all your future plans!! BTW, what resorts are on your short list?? :wave2:

We're getting ready to stay at AKL, then POFQ at Christmas and then celebrating my mom and dad's 30th anniversary at BCV in July 2005. My short list after that is Poly, BWI, POR, and GF. (I think we will be able to afford deluxes, just not concierge:( ). My parents took us to the Poly (sometimes Concierge) every year of my life from when I was three to about twenty so I thought I was tired of it, but after reading all of the wonderful posts about it and seeing how excited people are to stay there I want to go back! That's how I usually end up planning a trip - I want to stay at a certain resort so bad that I find any excuse I can to plan a trip. I even take a certain amount of money out of our account every month to put into my "Disney fund."

"Disney fund"....now,is that the same asCreative Financing?!!!!!!! :teeth:

Even though we always have everything paid off, those notebooks help us resortoholics put it all ALL together to make these trips happen!::yes::

I don't know that I will ever be able to afford 3 trips a year or concierge (with the help of these boards I'm working on it though).

BUT whenever things get stressful and difficult, I mentally drift away to Disney and work on my current plans, try out different options, envision WDW places we really enjoyed, then go on the boards and get input on different resorts, cost things out, make endless lists.....

It is relaxing and fun and I actually get to go there in the end! princess:

I'm with you Leighe! It's half the fun just planning whether it's next month (like for me!) or next year. And I also agree just having a Disney trip to look forward to makes life much more
bearable! It's a great escape, and a happy place! So in a nut shell ( no pun intended) I don't think you're crazy!

princess:

I hope all you resortoholics or Dis Nutz or fellow crazy people ;) got (or get) great discounted rates! I'm a little jealous that I'm not involved in all the excitement. I swear, chasing down the best rate is one of the best parts of planning!;)

I, too, am coming out........I AM A RESORTAHOLIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, now I feel so much better, time to get back to planning

I surrender!
I too am a RESORTAHOLIC!
And when I am doing like you all have confessed, a little voice in side keeps saying to me while I strive for that ultimate reservation,
"The Magic Happens!", "THE MAGIC Happens!!",
THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!!"
