resort with dining plan question

we are planning on staying june 5th - 10 with dining plan. if i go back and add our arrival nite (june 4th) to my reservation, will i also have to pay for another day of the dining plan. we wont arrive until 7 or 8 pm so i really dont want to pay for dining plan for 5 people for another day.
any info appreciated.

You could do a room only for the first night, but you might have to switch rooms the next day.

If you add on to your current package reservation, then yes, you would have to pay for the DDP for that extra night. As the pp mentioned, you could book a room only for that first night and have the 2 reservations linked together and put in a request that you would like to keep the same room. Then when you check in, tell the CM that you have a continuing reservation and would like to stay in the same room if possible. Although it's not guaranteed, Disney will do everything they can to not move you. You will, however, have to check out from the room only and check back in for the package and get new KTTW cards (even if you don't change rooms). HTH .

The last three years, I have had to book the first night as a room only, due to the fact I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it has always been blocked.

As the PP stated, I "linked" my reservations and the only time I have had to move was when there was a better room available and it was conveniently right next door!
