Resort upgrade pin ?

I got it!! We are staying at Old Key West in a 1 bedroom villa! We get to keep the original promo/gift card that we had with the original ressie.

No catch, we don't have to listen to a sales pitch or anything like that, the cm said that they were trying to free up rooms at POP. I'll bet this has something to do with the refurb going on at POP...I hear that it is more slow going than they thought.

I am so excited! We could never afford to stay at OKW so this is big for us.

Oh YEAH for you. Please consider taking a look at a map, its HUGE there and you do not want to be on a main road or really far away from main pool, etc. put your request in early rather than late. Have a great time!!

Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet...but the 1 bdrm also has a jacuzzi tub...which is very relaxing after a long day in the parks.

We saw that, I don't know who will be more excited me or my DS. He loves to take a bath.

That is my FAVORITE feature! and it's HUGE, in fact the whole 1 bedroom villa is GIGANTIC, it's like an apartment!! OP, you are going to love it. The one bad side -- it will be really hard to go back to a regular room after this.

I know! I think this is going to be a more relaxing vacation for us, I'll bet we will spend more time in the room because it is so big. Value resorts are going to seem so tiny now.

I need to do that, will work on that today. Are there preferred or nonpreferred locals? We had a nonpreferred at POP so I am sure that transferred to OKW.

My advice to anyone thinking of switching because they got this pin is TAKE IT. If they are worried about overbooking Pop Century during your stay, chances are the buses are going to be CROWDED. We wound up staying at Saratoga last year on this pincode and while we had to wait slightly longer for the bus to come to the resort, the lines were much, much more manageable.

As far as locations go, when you book with DVC points you can book near hospitality house (main building) or not. Both of them cost the same amount. I don't think cash reservations can make this distinction, but it if were me I would still put on my room request to be close to hospitality house. You could name specific villas but that might make it harder for you to get. If you don't have a car you definitely want to be as close to the main building as possible, in my opinion. There are multiple bus stops throughout the resort and you can always hop on one and be dropped off at HH, but I didn't like all the winding around (lot of back tracking) and liked being able to just walk across the street to the main pool,lobby, etc.

Just found this thread and wanted to add how happy we are for you. We had the same thing happen a couple of Easters ago, amd it was our best stay, ever! We wound up in a one bedroom villa on the water. The villa was spotless, and we were very close to a quiet pool and bus stop. We weren't close to the main pool, but we loved our quiet, pretty location. It was so nice to have the extra space and laundry room! Our kids loved the slide at the main pool and rec. facilities.

You can have both offers in this case because WDW is asking you to upgrade because they are overbooked - or for whatever the reason. I had the same thing happen to me in 2007. We got free dining and the upgrade from value to SSR.

You can have both offers in this case because WDW is asking you to upgrade because they are overbooked - or for whatever the reason. I had the same thing happen to me in 2007. We got free dining and the upgrade from value to SSR.

Exactly what pp said, You are doing Disney a favor by freeing up a room @ POP letting a party keep the original GC promo is incentive for them to move to the Deluxe

I see other posters answered your question and what they said was right. I made sure to ask about the gift card before I took the upgrade and it is on our updated reservation confirm.

Nope, not catch. My grand gathering received this pin last Sept. We upgraded to Saratoga Springs and absolutely loved it! So nice to have the extra space. In fact, we're not considering buying into DVC because of our stay here. My one piece of advise would be to call and book quickly. You probably aren't the only person to have received the pin and that upgrade books fast.
