Resort to resort travel tips please

We will be staying at CBR and I would like to visit the BW and AKL. I read that bus travel takes tooooo long. Can the veterans out there help me with my plans? If we are at Epcot, stay for Illuminations, walk to BW, stay for an hour... Can I reenter through International Gateway and walk back through Future World to catch my late bus back to CBR? If not, I guess I could just follow this plan before the parks close.

My next question is sort of the same about parks closing and how late buses run. If I leave AK at their early closing and bus to AKL, stay for an hour or so, then bus back to Epcot to bus back to CBR.

Does this sound ridiculous? My DH is not going to like the idea of calling a taxi, so if I can't figure out bus/boat/monorail traveling then we probably won't visit these two spots.

Will I feel "out of place" if I visit other resorts? Do all the resorts welcome visitors if you are staying on property?

Not sure about the busses (we get a rental car to handle these kinds of trips) but I'm sure others will chime it with advice. Oh, there is also a DIS Transportation board where WDW Bus Drivers hang out - you might want to check/post there as well.

I can tell you that you will be more than welcome at every WDW resort [as long as you don't swim in their pool ]. A lot of people dine at, shop at and simply just look around the other resorts - they even let in people who stay off-site - can you imagine that? Seriously, you'll feel right at home, whether you're checking out AS, or wandering through AKL.

The answer to your first question is NO. If you leave Epcot after Illuminations, the park is already closed. You would not be able to re-enter the International Gateway. And especially an hour later. By that time, the busses would not even be running from the front of Epcot. You could look around the Boardwalk and then take a bus from the front of the Boardwalk to Downtown Disney. At Downtown Disney you can catch a bus to the Caribbean Beach.

The answer to the second question is yes. As long as you leave the Animal Kingdom Lodge before Epcot closes, you can do as you have suggested. The other option is to again use Downtown Disney as a transfer point.

Thanks for the help. I guess because we are not renting a car, I have a fear of being left behind by the bus system if I stay out too late. The planning continues...
