If you book a room through a third party site like Expedia or plum benefits can you still get DME?

Yes of course! You will just have to ring up the Magical Express number to let them know your arrival/leaving time so they can book you in

I am currently researching this right now. I have booked through Hotels.com and it clearly states on my reservation that I can get the DME. However, their confirmation number does not work as my Disney confirmation number. So, I am unable to book DME or anything else through My Disney experience yet. I have read reviews that it may take a few phone calls but eventually I SHOULD be able to the Disney confirmation I am after. I am sure you can just call the DME like above but I want to be able to do fast pass and such as well.

Or you could just go to the DME counter at the airport. Have your reservation number and ID and they will get you all set. That's what I had to do a couple trips ago, I booked really late and when I called they said as long as I had my reservation number and ID, I could just check in at the airport. And you would have to give them your luggage tags so they can pick up your bags. We don't worry about that, as we usually take our own bags.

Quick update. I called Hotels.com just now to get my Disney confirmation # and not just their own. She was able to give me another number right away. Tried it on My Disney Experience, didn't work. So I called Disney, gave the CM both numbers given to me by Hotels.com and neither brought it up. However, she was able to find my booking through my phone number, booking dates and last name. All the details were correct, except the address she had for me was actually Hotels.com address so she changed that.

So I booked CSR about 5 days ago through Hotels.com (not a better rate than Disney at the moment, but I had the option to pay Paypal which I prefer) We don't travel to October and Disney already has our reservation, which is now in my own name, not Hotels.com. I am just making note of this because I saw another thread where a poster said that through third party sites Disney did not receive the reservation until days before making DME and other reservations difficult without a Disney confirmation #. Not the case here.
