Resort threads?

I don't see a problem with large resort threads. I read the SSR/lovers/owners thread for something to do. (We're in the middle of storm, we're south of the blizzard conditions.)

I came upon this post #400 in that thread...it's wonderful. Imagine seeing that from your balcony!

I see you have the same problem as me! I don't think we have been anywhere close to a blizzard(had a warning earlier) since 1978 and to be honest it's hasn't been that bad out. Front end loaders will not be needed to clean the streets.

I am somewhat of a newbie like, BroganMC, hope to run into you sometime at SSR, but alot of people have helped me out Slaak, Granny and Disdaydreamer. I am also a fan of Dumbo71 & Dean, for their vast knowledge of the timeshare industry and also manage to ruffle the feathers of the clique.

The SSR owners thread has been really nice, Mamaprincess who started it has been very welcoming to everyone.

To me a thread starts becoming a clique when it stops being about the subject and instead becomes just pages and pages of personal comments. When you stick to the subject matter anybody can join in and be included.

Wow, didn't realize my opening question would bring such interesting conversation:confused3

Yes!! Nail on the head!! :thumbsup2

I can remember trying to join in on cruise meets board and seeing many many personal messages that I really felt like I would be interrupting them if I talked about the cruise!

Ah but those personal comments and discussions are fun too. You get the impression that there are real people behind the screen names instead of just talking heads. Of course, I'm one to just jump in the middle of a conversation when something is said I identify with.

I really love that pic of the bald eagle outside SSR. I'm hoping to see some equally interesting wildlife on my trip in May. Course, being in MD I'm sitting in the middle of a snow/ice storm. Dreams of warm Florida weather are the only thing keeping me warm about now.

Exactly, as long as it remains on topic, everyone can learn and contribute.

I think some let what is said on these forums become too personal for them. I enjoy the forums as much as anyone, but it is a hobby much like playing an online game. I might really get into it while playing, even seem to get upset about losing, but when I turn my computer off, it is over and I never give it another thought.

I agree:thumbsup2 It was very disheartening trying to keep up with last year's DVC Member Cruise thread. It was also very hard to find information if you did not keep up with the thread. I really felt out of the loop because I couldnt keep up. I asked several questions and never did get a reply. It did feel like a cliq and It's hard to plan stuff with other people when you are sailing with family or friends. I even tried to update the sticky post, because I was sure there were others that felt the same way. It pained me to see people being referred to that thread whenever they had a question about the cruise.
What I would not like to see here is someone asks about SSR or VWL or any other specific DVC and they get several responses telling them to visit those particular threads.
I like the open discussions and varied responses. I find resort specific threads provide a wealth of info, but they can also become divisive.
