Resort-tax collections rise 4.2% in Orange - Posted March 3, 2006
Orange County collected $10.36 million in resort taxes during January, 4.2 percent more than it pulled in during January 2005. The 5 percent tax, derived mostly from hotel rooms and other short-term rentals, has produced steadily more revenue, a trend that points to strength in the regional lodging industry. Collections are also up for the fiscal year, which began Oct. 1. Resort taxes rose 6.7 percent during the first four months of the fiscal year, totaling $40.11 million at the end of January.
Looks like toursim in Central Florida continues to be on the rebound.
