Resort suggestions?

We are thinking about booking a trip the last week of Nov or first week of Dec. I contacted the lady we usually rent DVC points from and she's not sure she'll be able to get us a room at the BCV during that time frame at 7 months out. It's the only resort we've stayed at on property, so I'm not sure what else to think about. We like the proximity to Epcot, but we don't go there every night. We plan on doing the MVMCP so maybe a resort closer to MK would be better for this trip? Kids are 9 and 5, so they will want to swim if it's warm enough. Suggestions?

You're really late to the game for both weeks. Your best hope is at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. Almost every other resort is going to be a problem.

Those are two of the most popular DVC weeks of the year, and the first week of December is already gone at every near-park resort for studio availability for a full week.

I would have a backup plan to DVC.

It's always nice to be close to a resort to return from an evening party.

You may need to just make a list in order of preference as where you stay may be decided based on availability. The week after Thanksgiving is more likely to have more options vs the first week of December.

PVB standard view, BLT lakeview and the new CCV would be the most likely suspects near MK if you are looking for a studio.

We have our home resort at SSR and never found it an issue to get back there after a party by bus. In fact it was funny because we have a small add on at VGF so we booked a couple of nights there and booked the party one of the nights thinking the monorail would get us back real quick. The line for the monorail was frightful! We actually think the bus to SSR might have been quicker! Old Key West would be fine also. My friend stays there a lot and says the bus system is good.

Forgot to say your kids would like the pools at SSR. Also nice and close to Disney Sorings for dining. You can walk over the bridge, get the boat or a bus. Depends what building you get. Booking this late most likely only preferred left. That would be The Springs by carriage house check in and dining and the biggest pool nice for your kids or congress Park near Disney Springs. Very close walk.

Thanks! I didn't realize those were popular weeks based on crowd calendars I had looked at. Why are those weeks so popular? Just curious so I know for future trips. We had originally planned on going in Jan, then decided to bump it up so we could visit at Christmas, but maybe we'll stick with Jan.

DVC high season does not follow crowd calendars. First week of december is low points, mild weather and the annual membership meeting.

If the resort you want is important, I would look at the latter half of January ;).

First week of December is the most vied for week-- people end to stalking to get their rooms of choice. Aldo this year is a midnight magic for dvc members at Epcot, one day each week during the first two weeks of December.

1 Bd might be available at the 7mo mark during the first 2wks of December....

You should be able to find something, but you will have to be flexible on where you are willing to stay. I might be in the minority, but riding the buses doesn't bother me, no matter where I'm staying. A previous poster recommended SSR. That's our home resort, so we stay there often. It's a long was from everything except DS, but so what? Weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are dicey because it gets a little crowded. You may want to avoid the weekend they are taping the Christmas parade. Very tough to get a room.
