Hello,

We will be at WDW Aug 19-30th. There is me, DH, DD5, DS3 and DD1 and we plan on staying at Shades of Green from Aug 19th-24th. The second half of the vacation my DSis is joining us and we are looking at The Contemporary. Would it be more affordable to rent points and book at a DVC and stay at Bay Lake Tower? Or just booking a suite?? Or any other suggestion of Deluxe Resort for the 6 of us?? I have never rented points, so not really sure where to start for that. We can also get military discounts on WDW resort rooms, if available.

Thanks!

You could just rent a suite at SoG, they have them for 6 or 8 persons. Lots cheaper, like $250 a night.

Renting points for a villa will be much cheaper than a suite at the CR. My guess would be that paying through Disney for a villa would still be cheaper than the suites at CR.

The rooms at CR are some of the largest on property, with 2 queens, and a day bed. I think you'd all be comfy in a CR room, baby can be in the pack & play. Your sister can have the day bed, and the 2 other kids can share the queen.

I guess it is important to know why are you wanting a suite? Is it so that DSis can have a separate area to herself? If it is just for the space issue, I agree with the pp that CR rooms are plenty big enough for everyone to have a sleeping space. If you are looking more for DSis to have some privacy, there are Deluxe rooms at the WL that have two queens in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area where your sister could have some privacy. I'm not sure if that is what you mean by a suite at the CR or if you mean a BLT villa?

It sounds like you are looking at a 6 night stay beginning on a Sat night. Based on the points chart this requires 266 points for a standard two bedroom villa at BLT. I can't say what the cost per point will be to rent but you are probably looking at a minimum of $12 per point - so around $3200 total.
You need to compare this to the promos that may be coming out. The problem with waiting too long is that the DVC allotment may be gone for your date range

There will be six of us total in the group. Will we be allowed to stay in a CR room since the max occupancy is 5???

No. Room occupancy cannot be changed and you would be tight .

But OP has 5 plus one under 3, so that technically would be allowed under the occupancy rules, right?
