Hi everyone!
I am helping to spearhead a mother-daughter trip this summer for myself, my daughter, her two best friends, and their moms. I am trying to find the best options to accommodate our groups, whether it be a 2 bedroom or connecting rooms. For reference, the girls are all going to be 10 years old and have been to Disney before, though I think our family goes the most frequently. We have traveled with one of the mother-daughter duos before but never with all 3 pairs. So here are my questions:

-which resorts offer the best likelihood of connecting rooms?
-which resorts have 5th sleeper options?

The other two families would like to spend about $2k for the accommodations (each) and we're going for a week in August. I'd be willing to kick in additional towards the accommodations for the right resort.

Thoughts?

I would start not with “what would be best?” But with “what is available?” and work from there. You’ll get prices estimates that way and not waste your time learning about resorts you won’t be able to stay at anyway.

I would look at CBR and POR - they both have 5th sleeper options. CBR gives you the advantage of the Skyliner though, IMHO, POR is the nicer resort. Either option would keep you well below $6K for a week of accommodations. Should discounts come out, you could also look at some of the deluxe resorts that offer 3 sleeping surfaces in the rooms - Poly, GF and CR (others have them as well, but not guaranteed). A deluxe resort would, of course, give you more space and a bigger daybed (as opposed to the smaller bed in the mods). With any of these resorts, connecting will only be a request. You could, of course, look at the Family Suite options at AoA and ASMu, but they only provide 3 sleeping surfaces altogether so everyone would have to share a bed - you would be guaranteed to all be in the same room with this option.

Personally, with the above options, just for comfort's sake, I would probably book a mod or deluxe and make connecting your only request.

A 2-bedroom villa would guarantee you will all be in the same room, but, some people will have to sleep on pull-outs (which may not bother you). I think you will be hard pressed finding a 2-bedroom villa for $6k and under for the week.

Right now, based on what's showing DVC availability, I have AKV Jambo, Old Key West, and Saratoga Springs. As far as resorts booked directly through Disney, there seems to be quite a few options. As a family, we tend to stay deluxe but I understand that's not necessarily feasible based on the established budget. With that in mind, moderate options would probably be the next best place to research for this trip since the resort will have a slide at the main pool and table service options. Do you happen to know what the connecting room options would be at like Coronado Springs?

Thanks! I was looking at Saratoga Springs, OKW, and Jambo house, but I am not as happy with how large OKW and Saratoga Springs seems to be and the location of AKL. If it were just my family, we'd probably stay at the Poly or BWV.

How's the pool at CBR?

I would recommend CBR. The pool is fantastic and the skyliner access can’t be beat. We did a split stay with Yacht and CBR last year and when planning this year when I asked for a vote from our daughters (17, 14, and 11) given the choice of Yacht, CBR, or Port Orleans they unanimously voted CBR.

You can request them like elsewhere. Since you tend toward Deluxe I would do CSR Tower. The room are really nice. Tower is gorgeous. Even if you don’t get connecting rooms as long as all of you are booked in the Tower category it’s really easy to get to other rooms in the tower.
