Recently, there have been reports from both The Beach Club and Fort Wilderness that Guests are being told by Cast Members there that Disney IS planning on bringing back Resort-specific merchandise at those two Resorts because of the demand for it from Guests.:)

The timetable is "first of the year".

Can anyone confirm this and will the "return" happen at all Resorts including the Moderates and the Values?

I really used to love the Fort Wilderness and Port Orleans-Riverside shirts especially. They had such great designs.:)

I hope this is a rumor that turns out to be true. Why on earth would I want to buy the same old stuff I can get at a Disney store or anywhere else in the parks for that matter. Think of the amount of stores they have all selling the exact same merchandise. Why?!? I get Christmas ornaments from Ft Wilderness every year...or at least I used to until this past year.

Well, so that Disney can get better quantity discounts and have less trouble stocking inventory silly

I sure hope this is true. I'd also love to see more park specific merchandise. I'm so tired of everything just saying "Disney". I saw a pin online recently that just said "Disney parks". YUCK. That pin could have come from ANY of parks worldwide. I wonder if someone got a bonus for THAT concept. I sure hope it doesn't go that direction.

I'm going to move this to our resort board.

There is a rumor running rampant that the "One Park" concept is being abandoned, but once again-it is a rumor. It may have been born of just so much wishful thinking, but sign me up as one that hopes it's true.

I sure hope that it is true for both the parks and resorts. We have been complaining the last 2 years whenever we have been asked to do a survey. My husband being older prefers golf shirts to tee shirts. Years ago they used to have golf shirts for many of the rides, TOT, Pirates, Test Track etc as well as a couple of different ones for the parks, beautiful embroided logos, now there is nothing. He hates the ones that have the year on them. He would like to have gotten one from the different resorts that we have stayed in recently, but nothing. He even went as far as suggesting why not have golf shirts that you can pick a logo to have sewn onto it, like the design a tee shirt. I hope it happens.

I haven't been in 2 years so I guess I didn't realize they had gone to a "One Park" merchandising strategy... that's disappointing. I guess it will save us some $$ though!

. . . The "One-World, One Park" theme was from Meg Crofton
. . . now, she also runs DL and DLP
. . . it would be nice if someone got her to change her mind

. . . haven't heard the rumor
. . . but, I have heard the wishful thinking
. . . I think the people talking about it are ex-bus drivers

I hate this "Disney Parks" crap. I won't buy it.

Well, I bought one really cute purse, but now I'm done with it.

"One World, One Park"??? What the hell does that mean? It's not 1 park. There are many.

Whatever.

All these merchandising cutbacks and blending must be working out well. If they weren't making more money, they'd go back to quality merchandise and have cool logos.

ITA. I have stopped buying souvenirs (cold turkey, really), because I cannot stand the generic ones. Yuck!

My Wilderness Lodge mug is now a cherished possession, as well as some items I purchased at CBR and AKL.

If Disney had only told me the year that I bought the WL mug (2006), that the resort specific merchandise was going to be "locked in the Disney Vault" (you know, like they do with the DVDs), I would have purchased a mint. Their loss, at least until they bring the resort specific souvenirs back.

Disney, wake up! I actually WANT to carry around your merchandise everywhere I go and give you some free marketing. Please provide me with some Disney WORLD memorabilia, so I can do that for you!

Right! What happened to Four Parks One World?!

I miss the resort specific merchandise too. Some resorts still have a few things, like Poly & AKL. Guess it saves me money too! I used to`buy a night shirt, or tee shirt, note pads, fridge mags at our resort. Nothing to buy now.

And I like something with WDW on it. Not One Park :sad2: More money saved for me :confused3

I do hope this changes. I've heard the rumors about resort specific merchandise too. Sad it won't be in time for this trip coming up.

This would be awesome if it turns out to be true, for a couple of reasons.

1) It shows that Dis is listening to the consumer

2) Something else to wear/show/use post vacation that will help act as a reminder

3) (and I hope this is included) My Port Orleans Riverside coffee mug that I've had for 11 yrs is starting to fade. The generic all encompassing mug, just doesn't cut it.

This is wonderful news!! :thumbsup2 I sure hope it's true. Thanks for sharing WEDWDW.

In August 2010 one of the Cast Members who works at the Commander Porter's store of the Grand Flordian and told me they were going to be getting new logo merchandise for the Grand Floridian. I was looking at a shirt I liked but they didn't have my size and told me since they were getting new logo items in they weren't going to be getting new stock of their old items. However a few months later in December 2010 when I went back there they didn't have anything new for sale, so I wonder what will happen over there and the other resort stores.

I hope there is truth to this. The selection has become dismal. And lets hope that the quality and sizing return also. I haven't been able to find tee shirt that fits the last two trips. Mens XL what I normally wear, too big. L a tad too small. I'd love to find a nice polo but don't even try anymore. Well, enough for this rant. Hopefully the resorts will get some specific merchandise back and as long as we purchase it it will stick around.

Count me among the wishful thinkers :goodvibes.

I am one of those sources and as much as everyone likes to think it came from a bus driver, it didnt come from them. It came straight from the Beach club Marketplaces manager. Since you are so close to the world, stop in one day and enquire and see what they say. Maybe i was told a falacy but i took it as pretty real because it was the manager who told me.
Also the other person who heard it from the Fort Wilderness heard basically the same exact words I did except for the time frame. Mine said the end of the year, his/her said the beginning of next year...Basically the same difference....
