Will be traveling in less than a week with extended family db who was wondering which resort had the best spa (massages , and sort price not an object )
must be nice to not worry haha. hope he spoils the kids rotten

The GF is great! I am going to treat my sister to an entire spa day during our December trip. Try the aromatherapy massage and wrap and the aromatherapy facial. To die for! (I also had this at AKL and it was fabulous but it's not a true spa - just a health club that offers spa services.) The atmosphere, service, everything is fabulous! Be sure to stock up on some of the red grapefruit products (the name escapes me right now) to take home with you. Instant relaxation plus a Disney fix!

I did my first ever spa visit earlier this month. When I looked over the brochures comparing the GF spa and Saratoga Springs spa, Saratoga had something I'd always wanted to try, a hot stone massage. The GF spa did not offer this.

It was wonderful! A combination of swedish massage techniques using the stones and the masseus' hands, also an aromatherapy oil (I chose lavendar). Very relaxing after jet lag. It lasted 80 minutes. The girl was very nice.

You are also able to use their facilities. My sister came along but since it was last minute she couldn't get the treatment she would have tried - honestly, she isn't into the whole spa thing. They allowed her to use the spa facilities free while I was there. There was a sitting area and fresh fruit and ice water near the whirlpool area. She brought her swimsuit and tried out the whirlpool, also brought a book and read.

Upstairs in the waiting room was ice water, hot tea choices and fresh fruit.

I used the whirlpool, steam sauna and dry sauna. Very well equipped. Showers, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. A large mirror and stools to sit on along with a blow dryer (or two?) and cotton balls, Q-tips, tissues. They give you a locker with a key to leave your regular clothing in. There are a couple of dressing rooms. Another nice touch was that in the bathroom, instead of paper hand towels, there are washclothes, hand lotion.

It's spendy (for me) but a really nice experience. I was one of the last clients on a Thursday night during a slow week. So we didn't have to share with hardly anyone else. Very quiet and peaceful.

They really encourage you not to schedule something afterward. If you spend all that money and time to relax, you don't want to kick into high gear again that same day/night. Also, you are encouraged to use the saunas, etc. before and/or after to really help the relaxing process. I completely agree with them. We just went back to our resort, ate and went to bed.

There are AP discounts. At the front desk they ask you to leave some ID or your room key with charging priviledges or a credit card so you don't walk out without paying.

If someone can afford it, I would recommend it!

My wife loves the one at the GF. Even if we stay elsewhere she goes there and loves it.

Does anyone know what the AP discount is for services?

According to the 2005 Pasholder Benefits folder you get 10% off the regular price of one spa treatment each visit at either the GF or Sarasota Springs Resort. The offer Spa Pkgs. I wonder if you can get 10% off the pkg or if you get 10% off only the most expensive treatment in the pkg? I wonder if you could make your own pkg? I would like to do the Ultimate Relaxation (Aromatherapy Bath & Swedish Masssage) ($155.00) and then add an Herbal Body Scrub ($65.00) and a Stress Facial (65.00). With the AP discount would I get 10% off only the Ultimate Relaxation or off the full $285.00 (for all 4 treatments)? Does anyone know?

I havea used both the GF and SSR facilities and I like SSR better, I konw they are both run by the same company, but I do like SSR better. The dressing room at SSR are private, while the one at the GF is communal.

I, also, had the hot stone massage and was a puddle the rest of the day!
