Hi experts! Can i make a resort package reservation only to set my adrs? I want to secure CRT ressie under the ddp so that i dont have to prepay in full. However I know i will be cancelling such resort reservation as i have to wait for last minute florida resident package which i will get with dinning plan as well. Will i lose a linked ddp reservation if cancelling? Thanks!

You will not lose your dining reservations. Sounds like a good plan to me. You will have to make the $200 deposit when you make the resort reservation..

In theory, it should work.

However.

There is a chance you will lose the "prepaid with DDP" reservation when you cancel the original package to book the new one, since the credits from the original reservation which are tied to it will also be cancelled at that point. I'm sure a savvy CM could handle it for you, but that is going to be luck of the draw with whomever you end up talking to on the phone when you call in to make the changes.

If it was me, I'd make the CRT reservation with a credit card, and then when I booked my "real" package with DDP, call in and have them take the credits instead and refund the credit card. I do this myself, so I know they can refund the credit card and instead use DDP credits from a confirmed resort reservation with no fuss. If CRT is really important to you (as it sounds like it is), this is the only foolproof way to preserve a reservation made before the package is booked.

There are no credits in your DDP account until you have actually checked into the resort, I don't think they deduct credits from your account at the time you book anything - you don't have any credits OR an account from which to deduct them.

The only thing connecting your DDP reservation to your restaurant reservation does is let the system know you purchased DDP, so that it will not charge you when you book. It does not tie anything to individual dining credits (as at this point, there aren't any).

They probably won't cancel your dining reservation when you cancel the resort reservation. But there's no guarantee. I did have one cancel my ADRs once. I moved my trip from October to December, then when I called later to cancel my ADRs.........they were alread gone.
