Have any of you staying at the resort hotels ever taken in large coolers? If so, will the frig accomodate most of the food items or will I have to get ice everyday? Have any of you ever taken a toaster?

We brought a small toaster oven and a large cooler last year. The fridges are the "dorm room" type fridge. Definately would not hold what you could pack in a large cooler. Pint sized containers work well.

The toaster oven is a great idea. If they had microwaves in the rooms at DGC it would be awesome! I have two toddlers and it's hard to use the community one down at White Water Snacks. I still have several months to plan so I'll figure out how to pack a toaster oven. :thumbsup2

Many hotels will ask you to remove a toaster or taoster oven because of fire code.

Housekeeping would have to notice, of course. . .

The first thing you do is put it away when you leave. Never had a problem anywhere we have stayed either with a small microwave or the toaster oven.

If I didn't know any better I'd probably agree but the reason they don't have mircrowaves is that Disney wants your food dollars. Fire code has nothing to do with it.

I'll just put it away like I do all my other personal belongings before leaving my room as noted above.

:rolleyes1

Toasters/toaster ovens are in a different category than microwaves, because they have an exposed heating element. Which is why they are forbidden by hotel and college dormitory fire codes. You would have to hide it carefully.

gotcha!

I "thought" I saw a picture of one of the GCH villa rooms (studio) I think and I swear I saw a toaster. That said if they provide them in there villas...why would they have a problem with a toaster in your room?

I was planning on bringing a toaster in April (we have DD4 and DD16 months) to help with breakfast stuff.....I hadn't even considered hiding the toaster ...any comments???

I was going to post a separate about items to bring to help with light breakfasts in room but this hiding the toaster, etc has me intrigued.

Most of the fridges are too small to accommodate the food in a large cooler. We recently stayed in the rennovated rooms at the DLH Dreams tower and those fridges are bigger but it would still be a tight fit. I don't know if you have thought of it, be we have an electric cooler that we travel with and it is awesome! While driving, it plugs into your car adapter and then when we get to the hotel, we just bring the whole thing in and plug it into an outlet!
