Resort recommendation?

I just found out I'm going to have a 2 night layover in Orlando in January. Ordinarily, I would just stay in the Hyatt at the airport, but then I got this brilliant idea of maybe dragging my husband and son along with me and dropping in to see Mickey real quick. So, I'm looking for a Disney resort recommendation. We probably can spend a little more $ because it's only two nights. The other thing is that we might not actually get park tickets - not sure if we'll have enough time to make it worth it... so we're looking for a resort that can amuse us on its own (dining, pool, etc.). Any ideas/suggestions?

I'd say the Boardwalk Villas. There are some nice restaurants right there and there's also a very nice pool as well. It also has a good fitness center and a very fun piano bar on the boardwalk at night.

OK. What is a two night layover?:rolleyes1

Yeah I need to plan that next time I am swinging through Orlando! My husband would just roll his eyes and say, "So now I guess you have to go visit MICKEY".

You go girl!

I vote for WL or any of the Boardwalk places! Or you may want to try a Saratoga Springs Studio and then you are real close to DTD! Not sure which days your "layover" is on but if it is on a Sun through Thur night then if you rented SSR points in January it would only be about 220.00 for the two nights!

Good luck choosing!

Oh Yeah, why don't you just extend your tickets from your Sept trip. Not sure what kind of park tickets you have for Sept, but if you know your going in January, it would be a lot cheaper to just make then Non expiring depending on how many days you are using.

Another vote here for Wilderness Lodge

Yeah, it's called having to coordinate business meetings with our vacation. We're actually taking a Disney cruise at the end of January. I will already be in the southern US so doesn't make sense to fly all the way back to Chicago only to turn around a few days later and head south again. So, I'll end up in Orlando a few days prior to heading out to the port. What better excuse do I need to go visit Mickey! Yeah, my husband rolled his eyes when I told him that too, as if visiting Mickey were the only thing to do in Orlando!

My layover will be on a Thursday and Friday night so I'm not sure if that makes much of a difference. I was just looking at one night room only rates for the range of resorts. The 2008 rates aren't up yet, so I'm basing it off of value season 2007 rates. I was hoping to try for a room in the Poly or Contemporary, but it's still super expensive. I've always wanted to stay at the WL too so I've looked at that. I think I'm getting a bad case of indecisiveness. I'll have to think about it for awhile. Thanks for the suggestions!

I vote BC/YC.....great pool and access to all the fab restaurants and entertainment at the BW.
